The Director of Banking Operations and Client Cash Management provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Banking Operations and Client Cash Management supporting Canada Life and Great-West Lifeco. The role works closely with leaders across Corporate Treasury, Investments and the lines of business to ensure that key transactions and processes are executed accurately, efficiently and on time. The Director also partners with the leader of Strategic Initiatives for Banking Operations and Client Cash Management to advance transformation priorities, strengthen operational capabilities and deliver sustainable process improvements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
What you will do
- Provide strong leadership and oversight of daily Banking Operations and Client Cash Management activities , including cash processing and reconciliations, corporate transactions, dividend workflows, client cash movements and fraud mitigation .
- Provide coaching and mentoring to accelerate the development of team members through a clear and compelling vision, establishment of goals, measurement of performance, and continuous feedback
- Build collaborative partnerships with other internal business units to support business priorities and encourage innovation and continuous process improvements while applying effective change management practices
- Lead process improvement and modernization initiatives that simplify operations, strengthen controls and enhance the client and employee experience.
- Develop and cultivate effective relationships with external business partners including financial institutions and other key stakeholders
- Provide oversight of internal/external audit requests and testing, and controls over financial reporting documentation, including regular review of departmental processes and recommend changes where appropriate.
- Partner with the leader of Strategic Initiatives for Banking Operations and Client Cash Management to align operational priorities, support the delivery of strategic initiatives, manage change and ensure operational readiness and sustainable adoption.
What you will bring
- 7+ years of relevant financial services or accounting experience.
- CPA designation is considered an asset, but is not required
- Experience with Kyriba is considered an asset.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience, with a focus on coaching, development and accountability.
- Highly motivated, agile, with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines with multiple deliverables.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to anticipate, analyze and respond to a rapidly evolving and complex environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven ability to build collaborative partnerships.

The base salary for this position is between $128,200 - $178,200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
