Standard Job Description

The Technician – Quality Control Sr Spec serves as the senior specialist and team lead for the inspection team. This team is in charge of the inspection of raw materials, packaging components, and finished products. This role is responsible for performing detailed analyses (potentially chemical and physical), executing both qualitative and quantitative inspection characteristics, maintaining test equipment compliance, and ensuring that all products meet customer, regulatory, and internal tolerance specifications / requirements. The incumbent also will be in charge of preparing and generating quality statistics, statistical reviews, reports, reviews production documentation for procedural conformance, leads non‑conformance investigations, and assists in leading, training, and collaborating with the inspector team to make technical calls, locate requirement information, and resolve open questions.

Basic Qualifications

* Must be a US Citizen and have ability to obtain Interim Secret Clearance prior to start
* Leadership Skills:
* Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate a technical team, and to assist inspectors in interpreting requirements and making decisions.
* Technical Skills:
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specification sheets.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
* Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Education:
* High‑school diploma or GED (minimum); associate’s degree or technical certification in engineering technology, manufacturing, or a related STEM field is preferred.
* Software Familiarity:
* Competence with inspection data‑capture tools (Excel, Minitab, or dedicated Q‑systems).
* Experience with MS Office (Excel for data analysis, Word for detailed reports, and PowerPoint for presentations).
* Documentation:
* Ability to accurately complete inspection reports, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and maintain calibration logs.

Desired Skills

* Quality System Knowledge:
* Familiarity with relevant standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, IPC J-STD-001, or industry specific quality systems.
* Relevant Experience:
* 2 + years of progressive inspection experience in a regulated or high mix manufacturing environment (aerospace, automotive, medical device, defense, etc.).
* Direct involvement in product audits, supplier qualification, or first article inspection programs.
* Certifications & Training
* Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) – ASQ, or equivalent industry certification.
* GD&T certification (e.g., ASME Y14.5) and/or Metrology certification (e.g., NQA 1, ISO 17025).
* Six Sigma Green Belt or higher, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen training.
* Software & Systems Proficiency
* Expertise with quality management software and electronic inspection data capture tools.
* Hands on experience with ERP/PLM platforms (SAP, Oracle, Siemens Teamcenter) for traceability and non conformance tracking.
* Ability to develop and maintain electronic work instructions and digital inspection plans.
* Regulatory & Standards Knowledge
* In depth familiarity with industry specific standards (J-STD-001, AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820, MIL STD 1913, etc.).
* Experience supporting internal and external audits, preparing audit evidence, and implementing corrective actions.

* Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to:
* Convey inspection results
* Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and production staff.
* Write clear reports and present findings to senior management.
* Personal Attributes: High attention to detail, strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to continuous improvement and safety.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $54300.00 - $100900.00
