DC Bureau Producer

Sinclair's DC Bureau is seeking a highly organized, editorially driven Producer to support coverage of the nation’s most important political stories in Washington and in the field.

The DC Bureau Producer will work closely with bureau correspondents on daily stories, including occasional scriptwriting. This role also will coordinate interviews, logistics, and editorial elements for daily bureau stories in and around Washington, while also helping coordinate coverage of political campaigns, conventions and debates.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong political news judgment, and anticipates coverage needs while managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

- Work closely with reporters, photographers, the DC Bureau Chief, and control room teams to execute live and taped coverage.
- Produce packages, live elements, and social/digital content as needed. Occasionally conduct interviews with lawmakers and other officials.
- Monitor political developments, daily Washington coverage, campaign activity, legislation, and breaking news to help shape daily coverage plans.
- Build and maintain relationships with Capitol Hill, White House, and other federal press offices; political organizations and campaign staff.
- Research candidates, policy issues, events, and key political players to support accurate, compelling storytelling.
- Identify, pitch, and help secure relevant political guests, sources, and interview opportunities.
- Plan logistics for live shots, interviews, reporter travel, credentials, equipment, and transmission paths.
- Travel, including on short notice, to support major political events and breaking news coverage.
- Maintain a high standard for accuracy, fairness, urgency, and editorial integrity.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience producing political, national, or breaking news coverage in a television, digital, or multiplatform news environment.
- Experience working directly with national news correspondents and writing broadcast news packages is required.
- Strong knowledge of national politics, Congress, the electoral process, and current events.
- Experience covering Congress and/or the White House is preferred.
- Excellent editorial judgment, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts during major news events.
- Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with remote and in-studio teams.
- Experience coordinating live television production, field logistics, and/or satellite transmission is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $65,855.20 to $82,319. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
