The Antenna Test Infrastructure team develops the technology, systems, and chambers that validate LEO hardware across both Satellite and Customer Terminal programs. We design and build automated test environments — including RF over-the-air (OTA) and thermal chambers — and continuously drive down test takt times through robotics, fixturing, and controls innovation.

In this role, you will design, build, and commission the mechanical systems, tooling, and automation that enable high-throughput hardware validation. You will own the full lifecycle of test fixtures and robotic handling systems — from concept through FEA-validated detailed design to factory-floor integration — and develop the control electronics and software that bring them to life. You will work at the intersection of mechanical design, industrial automation, and precision metrology, partnering closely with RF, thermal, and manufacturing engineering teams to deliver test infrastructure that scales with production.

Export Control Requirement

Key job responsibilities
- Design and develop automated handling systems using industrial robots, actuators, and custom end-effectors for loading, unloading, and manipulating DUTs within RF OTA and thermal test chambers.

- Program and integrate industrial robots and machine-vision systems to enable repeatable, high-precision automated test sequences.

- Design ergonomic tooling, assembly fixtures, and test fixtures for Satellite and Customer Terminal components and products, applying GD&T and tolerance stackup analysis to ensure fit, function, and repeatability.

- Develop control electronics and automation architectures using PLCs, SCADA, and mechatronic subsystems; select and size actuators, sensors, and motion components for reliability and performance.

- Perform structural and thermal FEA to validate fixture and tooling designs prior to fabrication.

- Create and maintain 2D drawings, 3D models, and BOMs in NX/Teamcenter; lead part design reviews and manage document control processes.

- Operate and maintain precision metrology equipment — including laser trackers, CMMs, and optical measurement systems — to verify alignment, positioning accuracy, and fixture repeatability.

- Manage lab floor layout, equipment installation, and infrastructure upgrades to support evolving test requirements.

- Project-manage the execution of design efforts end-to-end: scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, vendor coordination, and collaboration with internal manufacturing teams through delivery and commissioning.

- Develop and maintain automated pipelines and inspection routines, integrating hardware, software, and OT/IT systems within an active satellite manufacturing environment.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, systems engineering or related field
- Knowledge of industry standard CAD & FEA design tools, industry trends, and design for manufacturability
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and industrial automation, including hands-on work with robotic systems, fixturing, and control electronics.
- Experience in 3D CAD (NX preferred) and PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred) for part modeling, assemblies, and drawing creation.
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design-for-manufacturability principles.
- Experience programming industrial robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or equivalent) and integrating machine-vision systems.
- Experience with PLC programming, control panel design, and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with precision metrology tools such as laser trackers, CMMs, or optical measurement systems.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, systems engineering or related field
- Experience designing automated test systems for RF, antenna, or aerospace/satellite hardware.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, HMI development, and industrial safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 62443).
- Experience with thermal chamber integration, cryogenic fixturing, or environmental test automation.
- Knowledge of RF OTA test methodologies and the mechanical constraints of anechoic or compact-range chambers.
- Track record of managing vendor relationships, procurement, and build schedules for custom capital equipment.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles, takt-time reduction, and continuous improvement in a production test environment.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB) for test automation, data acquisition, or equipment control.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
