HIRING SALARY RANGE: $3,317.17 - $4,292.81 /biweekly range

The Work You Will Do:

Survey & Mapping Supervisor II

This position will direct the work of employees, coordinate training, supervise daily activities, plans workloads, and deadlines . Preforms contract administration duties and provide tech support. Coordinates and reviews office and field information.

Annual Salary Range:

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Supervises, assigns, and coordinates the activities of Department staff, including Professional Land Surveyors II and/or Professional Land Surveyor Supervisors I, as well as monitoring and reviewing the work of consultants. Provides guidance and reviews projects for compliance to Department standards and project specific scopes of services. Assures deliverables meet state laws, regulations, and accepted principles and practices. Reviews reports, deliverables, and project estimates proposals. Supervises employees by communicating regularly, motivating, training, evaluating, and planning and directing employees work. Prepares and evaluates employee performance expectations. Implements training and development of employees, supervises employees, approves timesheets, monitors and reports attendance and leave balances for employees, meets with staff to discuss individual and team performance, promotes safety awareness and monitors the staff to assure adherence to safety requirements.

Supervises the preparation of maps, sketches & descriptions to convey right of way, easements and agreements. Supervise and coordinate the computations & drafting of maps & sketches and the writing of descriptions and documents to convey right of way. Analyses title information and official records. Supervises the preparation, execution, and delivery of surveys. Supervises and coordinates the processing of collected data, the calculations of land lines and related data. Monitors and track the scheduled dates for the distribution of maps, sketches, and descriptions.

Plans and manages the cost center budget and consultant contracts. Monitors and assesses the performance of consultants. Reviews and approves invoices in a timely manner.

Assists Department personnel, the public, consultants, and other agencies, with questions and issues regarding title information and documents. Provides assistance in the acquisition process.

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

- Knowledge of principles, practices, laws, and regulations governing the surveying and mapping profession.

- Knowledge of Department procedures, guidelines, and standards for the Offices of Surveying & Mapping, Design, and Right of Way.

Skills in:

- Skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

- Skill in negotiating project scopes and staff hour estimates.

- Skill to coach, mentor, and motivate employees.

Ability to:

- Ability to supervise people.

- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform multiple projects.

- Ability to monitor and assess the performance of employees and consultants.

- Ability to read legal descriptions, maps, plats, and plans.

Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements:

- Florida Surveyor and Mapper license in accordance with Chapter 472, Florida Statutes.

Other Job-Related Requirements:

- Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short time frame and serve on the Transportation Emergency Management Team.
