Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Structural Design Engineer (Level 2) / Principal Structural Design Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future.  This position will be located in Clearfield, UT.

In this role, you will be involved in any number of products including air vehicles, subsystems, equipment, ground support, tooling, modifications, testing, interface control, requirements, process improvement, etc. The ideal candidate communicates clearly with teammates and stakeholders, brings a high level of energy and ownership to their work, and thrives in a collaborative, dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

- Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with objectives.
- Designs, researches, and develops engineering product definition that could include all phases of the product life cycle from preliminary design to sustainment.
- 2D and 3D Model Based Design (MBD) utilizing software packages such as NX.
- Work in a dynamic team environment to support programmatic goals and schedule.
- Knowledge and use of GD&T and tolerance stacks.
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) utilizing software packages such as Teamcenter.
- Critical thinking and personal organizational skills to capture and complete a design that meets all engineering requirements.
- Design Collaboration Methodology (DCM): work closely with key stakeholders throughout the design process to accomplish design completeness in a timely manner.
- Task planning, conducting technical peer reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at a Structural Design Engineer (Level 2) OR Principal Structural Design Engineer (Level 3) level based on the qualifications below.

Structural Design Engineer (Level 2)

- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 2 years of related professional/military experience in Design, Mechanical, Structural, or Manufacturing Engineering; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related professional/military experience in Design, Mechanical, Structural, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
- Professional experience in design and 3D CAD modeling
- Able to work independently with minimal direction, exercising sound judgment and proactive problem-solving

Principal Structural Design Engineer (Level 3)

- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience in Design, Mechanical, Structural, or Manufacturing Engineering; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience in Design, Mechanical, Structural, or Manufacturing Engineering; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience in Design, Mechanical, Structural, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
- Professional experience in design and 3D CAD modeling
- Able to work independently with minimal direction, exercising sound judgment and proactive problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications:

- Active Secret or higher security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 3 years of 3D CAD modeling experience
- Experience with NX 3D modeling
- Experience with TeamCenter PLM
- Fundamental GD&T knowledge and tolerance stack‑up analysis experience
- Ability to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex, difficult problems, delivering imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions that are consistent with organizational objectives

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
