THE ROLE

Every Cyvl drive captures LiDAR, imagery, and GPS data that has to become something a city engineer can trust. As a Data Engineer, you'll build and scale the pipelines and data platform behind our Infrastructure Intelligence Platform, taking raw sensor data through processing, AI inference, and QA to client-ready geospatial deliverables. Your work sets how fast we deliver, what it costs, and how much customers trust the numbers. This role is based in Somerville, MA, or remote from San Francisco, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Design, build, and operate pipelines that move sensor data from ingest to client-ready geospatial outputs.
- Build and maintain our data platform so product, AI, and analytics teams can find and use data fast.
- Build automated data quality checks and monitoring that catch problems before customers do.
- Partner with Data Operations and GIS teams to automate manual workflows and increase throughput.
- Improve the cost and performance of processing at scale on AWS.

WHAT YOU BRING

- 3+ years building production data pipelines or data platforms
- Strong Python and SQL
- Experience with cloud data infrastructure (AWS preferred) and workflow orchestration (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or similar)
- Experience making large, messy datasets reliable
- Comfort owning systems end to end, from design through on-call

NICE TO HAVE

- Geospatial data experience (PostGIS, GDAL, GeoParquet, H3 or other spatial indexing)
- Sensor data: LiDAR point clouds, imagery, GPS/IMU
- Lakehouse formats and engines (Iceberg, Delta, DuckDB, Spark)
- Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Supporting ML training and inference pipelines

- Be in the room. We're on-site in Somerville about 90% of the time. If you're based in San Francisco, this role is remote, and you'll be with the team in Somerville for the moments that matter like onboarding, kick-offs, and milestones.
