Starting pay: $17.00 an hour!

Damar is currently seeking a Resource Specialist to join our team. Our Resource Specialist position on our is one of Damar's most unique positions, striving to keep the environment safe for our clients, and provide support for our other direct care staff. It is a great role that builds leadership skills while still making a difference in our clients' lives!
Schedule
- 1st shift (6:00 am - 2:00 pm)
- 1st shift (10:00 am - 6:00 pm)
- 2nd shift (2:00 pm - 10:00 pm)

Key Responsibilities
- Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations for all Damar programs - taking the leadership role in de-escalation and/or intervention when needed
- Initiates special precautions for clients that exhibit and meet high risk behavior criteria
- Takes appropriate action regarding any events that affect the mental and physical well-being of the residents, including but not limited to, providing client and staff support, informal training and crisis management
- Understands behavior support plans for high acuity clients

Qualifications and Skills
- Be at least 21 to work in our Children's Residential program however, we have Direct Support Professional roles for those between 18-21 so we encourage you to apply for the Direct Support Technician role if you are not 21 or over
- Be able to provide formal proof of a high school diploma or GED
- Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
- Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
- Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and physical
- Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Essential Job Functions
The essential functions of this position require the physical ability and mobility needed to perform the job. This includes the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.; operate office equipment, including a computer keyboard; travel to other locations using private or commercial transportation; and communicate effectively to exchange information.
The position also requires the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to client behaviors, staff instructions, safety concerns, and emergencies in an environment where individuals may display aggressive, self-injurious, sexually maladaptive, elopement, or other unpredictable behaviors.
Regular and acceptable attendance, excluding approved absences and periods of leave, is also an essential function of the position.
