Job Title: Digital Executive Producer - WSB TV
Position Overview
The Digital Executive Producer at WSB TV in Atlanta, Georgia will lead our digital content strategy and daily execution across all digital platforms, including web, app, social media, streaming, connected TV, and emerging platforms.
The EP is responsible for day-to-day decision-making, and will be an expert at story selection, headline writing, social media, vertical video production, SEO, AP Style writing and editing, and breaking news for a digital audience. The Digital Executive Producer will oversee a team of digital producers and content creators while working closely with newsroom managers, executive producers, reporters, photographers, and assignment editors to ensure our journalism reaches audiences wherever they consume news. This position requires strong editorial judgment, advanced digital storytelling skills, deep audience development expertise, and a proven ability to lead a high-performing team in a fast-paced, breaking news environment. The EP will understand the unique competences and audience consumption preferences of owned platforms and third-party digital platforms. You should be fluent in at least one CMS and have experience with audience signaling tools.
The ideal candidate is a newsroom leader who understands the evolving media landscape, can balance audience growth with journalistic excellence, has strong people skills and can manage others to drive best-in-class digital news coverage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead daily digital content strategy across all platforms
- Excel at breaking news and AP style writing and editing for a digital audience
- Direct content selection, prioritization, and presentation for WSBTV.com, mobile apps, social platforms, streaming channels, and emerging products
- Ensure the newsroom consistently publishes accurate, timely, and engaging content
- Identify high-value stories and audience engagement opportunities throughout the day
- Lead the newsroom's vertical video strategy across platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels, and emerging social products
- Develop and execute digital coverage plans for major breaking news, severe weather, investigations, and special events
- Partner with newsroom leadership to maximize content reach and impact
- Work closely with other key newsroom managers, reporters, anchors and producers to ensure a multiplatform approach
- Execute live-streaming strategy to encourage viewership on mobile and on other digital platforms
- Consistently survey our websites, apps, and social platforms to make sure the freshest content including updated headlines and video are included
- Consider how content is organized/displayed, design interactive elements, order graphics, etc. to enhance coverage
- Ensure all distribution points (push alerts, social media, newsletters, etc.) have correct posting frequency and topic selection
- Work with talent and/or marketing to develop unique video and social content
- Work closely with corporate Content teams to leverage engagement tactics such as SEO best practices, interactive content, social media best practices, etc.
- Utilize headline testing and audience analytics to improve content performance.
- Understand and leverage key analytics and performance metrics to evaluate and drive performance
- Train other newsroom staff on digital platforms and best practices
- Collaborate with other departments including marketing and sales to optimize digital opportunities
- Perform administrative duties
- Understand and contribute to all content center operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in media, digital media or communications.
- Background in journalism with in-depth knowledge of digital platforms including websites, apps, video, social media, etc.
- 3+ years of digital news management or news management experience
- Strong organizational and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities
- Ability to prioritize and deliver results against a work plan in a fast-paced environment, giving attention to detail even under high pressure situations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Analytical with the ability to evaluate complex data and make recommendations
- Demonstrated expertise in content selection and prioritization
- Outstanding headline writing and copy-editing abilities
- Deep understanding of digital analytics and audience development
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
