The Prime Video Resilience team is looking for a Software Development Engineer II to help us ensure our services are ready to scale safely and efficiently. We sit at the core of Prime Video's resilience layer, where we identify scalability blockers, build frameworks and tools that let service teams handle massive concurrent viewership, and do it all without impacting real customers.
You will design and deliver solutions that enable other engineering teams to focus on business logic while your work quietly ensures their services can scale. If you enjoy solving complex systems problems, thinking about graph patterns and distributed architectures, and shipping tools that have organization-wide impact, this role will give you that opportunity.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and build scalability testing frameworks and tools that help Prime Video services validate their readiness to support millions of concurrent viewers safely and without customer impact.
- Identify and resolve scalability blockers across services by analyzing system dependencies, load characteristics, and failure modes, then implementing permanent fixes at the root cause.
- Collaborate with service teams across Prime Video to help them understand scalability challenges and adopt the frameworks your team builds, coaching them on best practices along the way.
- Contribute across the full software development lifecycle — from working backwards on requirements through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations — while maintaining high code quality and clear documentation.
- Evaluate new approaches and technologies for scale-readiness tooling, recommending adoption where appropriate and keeping your solutions straightforward rather than over-engineered.
A day in the life
You will spend much of your time working independently — diving deep into system architectures, profiling service behavior under load, and writing code for the tools and frameworks that power Prime Video's scale-readiness program. On other days, you will partner with service teams to walk through their scalability challenges, propose solutions, and help them integrate your tooling. As an individual contributor, you will balance heads-down engineering with collaborative problem-solving sessions, gaining broad exposure to the systems and patterns that keep Prime Video running at scale.

The Prime Video Resilience team is responsible for ensuring that Prime Video's services can scale to meet the demands of millions of concurrent viewers worldwide. We build the frameworks, tools, and approaches that let service teams prove their scale readiness efficiently, so they can stay focused on delivering great customer experiences. Our work has organization-wide impact, and we are always looking for new ways to make scalability validation simpler and more effective. Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
