About this role
We are seeking a high-performing, growth-driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to spearhead our direct sales expansion in the European market, with a primary focus on the Gocator Smart 2D Smart Vision sector.
Reporting directly to Managing Director & Sales Leader, EMEA, this role is central to sustaining our strong regional sales performance, expanding direct end-user and integrator coverage across Germany and Europe, and establishing LMI's footprint in high-growth 2D vision applications .
This position requires a s elf-motivated technical sales professional with strong experiences in the 2D Smart Camera business who combines strong prospecting capabilities ("hunting mindset") with practical, hands-on technical demonstration skills.
Core Responsibilities
- 2D Smart Camera Market Expansion & Business Development (60–70% Primary Focus) Proactively identify, target, and acquire new B2B customers within the 2D smart machine vision, factory automation, and industrial sensing markets.
- Lead direct outreach campaigns ("hunting") across key industrial verticals (e.g., automotive, packaging, electronics, cable, and food processing).
- Follow up on high-intent inbound inquiries and AI-driven/Co-pilot user leads, evaluating customer requirements and converting initial interest into qualified pipeline opportunities.
- Drive market penetration across the DACH region and expanded European territories.
- Technical Demonstrations & Practical Evaluations Conduct hands-on technical product demonstrations directly at customer sites using portable 2D sensor kits and demo equipment.
- Set up 2D smart camera hardware and inspection software on-site to validate project feasibility and prove best-case application demos.
- Collaborate with Field Application Engineers (FAEs) on complex toolchain configurations while maintaining the independence to execute initial technical validation autonomously.
- Territory Strategy & Channel Alignment Develop flexible sales strategies across assigned regional territories (DACH, UK, Northern/Southern Europe).
- Work strategically alongside existing distribution partners and system integrators, balancing direct end-user engagement with partner channel harmony.
- Focus on medium-to-large multi-sensor opportunities while maintaining efficient qualification processes for smaller end-user requirements.
- Sales Pipeline & Account Management Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospect identification, initial technical qualification, demo presentation, and commercial negotiation to closing.
- Maintain rigorous CRM pipeline tracking and account documentation to support transparent forecasting.
Education, Qualifications & Skills
- Required Technical & B2B Sales Experience Proven B2B Technical Sales Track Record: 3+ years of successful business development or sales experience within Industrial Machine Smart Vision (2D/3D), Factory Automation, Photonics, or Sensor Technologies.
- Hands-on Technical Aptitude: Ability to mount, connect, and configure 2D vision cameras and software on-site for customer proof-of-concepts.
- Proactive Prospecting Ability: Demonstrated experience in cold outreach, direct client acquisition, and managing long B2B technical sales cycles.
- Mobility & Travel Readiness: High willingness to travel across Germany and Europe for client visits, technical trials, and industry trade shows.
- Languages & Communication German: Business fluent / native proficiency (essential for DACH customer engagement).
- English: Business fluent (essential for internal global collaboration and international accounts).
