Description

The Web Press Roll Tender works together with the Press Operators and Assistants to ensure smooth and efficient production by maintaining an appropriate supply of roll paper stock to the press at all times and performing other pressroom duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Verify roll inventory number against job ticket.
- Record roll numbers and weight on roll log sheet.
- Prep rolls for splicer and stage rolls in appropriate location using roll truck.
- Move rolls into position and hang rolls in splicer.
- Check settings on splicer and adjust as needed.
- Monitor running roll before splicing and adjust side lay as needed for successful splice.
- Check oil levels in units twice each shift and fill as needed; record finding on web report.
- Check overflow pans each shift; dump and clean as needed.
- Grease or oil ink balls once each shift.
- Hang plates on the press.
- Check and replace cardboard between units as needed.
- Sweep between presses.
- Help web press during make ready or web break.
- Return paper to inventory at the end of each job.
- Complete paperwork at the end of each job and each shift.
- Complete paperwork at the end of each job and each shift.
- Clean work area at the end of each shift.
- Ensure sake and flash bottles are full at the end of each shift.
- Work with Lead Operator and train on press as time allows.
- Participate in continuous improvement process.
- Follow all safety guidelines.
- Assist stackers as required or directed.
- Ensure production meets department goals and metrics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling, and bending
- Pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordination
- Requires near visual acuity
- Requires working around and operating departmental equipment
- Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility
- Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances

Physical Requirements
