Global Banking and Markets (GBM)

Global Banking and Markets (GBM) conducts the Bank’s wholesale banking and capital markets business with corporate, government and institutional investor clients. GBM is a full-service wholesale bank and investment dealer in Canada and Mexico and offers a range of products and services in the U.S., Latin America and in select markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

More specifically, GBM provides clients with: corporate lending; transaction banking (including payments, trade finance and cash management); investment banking (including corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions); fixed income and equity underwriting, sales, trading and research; prime services (prime brokerage and stock lending); foreign exchange sales and trading; commodity derivatives; and collateral management.

Purpose:

Equity Capital Markets (ECM) is a client focused sales and service group whose primary mission is to execute on the business needs of various client groups – The Corporate and Investment Banking arm of Scotiabank GBM (CIB), the Global Wealth Management departments of Scotiabank including ScotiaMcLeod and iTrade, (collectively GWM) and the Institutional Equity (IE) arm of GBM.

The primary function of this role is to facilitate the communication, promotion and distribution, and settlement of new equity issues into GWM salesforce. To ensure new issue data is communicated in an accurate, efficient and appropriate manner, numerous relationships must be managed internally with retail branch management and administrators and externally with other investment dealers. This role includes ongoing communication with Wealth Advisors as they query new issue transaction details or provide market reception of new issues, as well as, establishing strategic relationships with our Corporate clients to design and facilitate marketing initiatives to our GWM salesforce.

What You’ll Do:

- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge

- Manage the New Issue Allocation and Distribution (NIAD) application that facilitates the book build process for equity new issue bought and marketed deals into the Scotia Wealth Management salesforce

- Primary Lead on all retail corporate access meetings and events. Coordinate with all stakeholders including Corporate Clients, Investment Banking, Research, Sales and Trading and Wealth Management

- Liaise/provide procedural support to GWM branch managers and new issue administrators

- Liaise with counterparts at other investment dealers re: new issue allocations, selling group, and IPO marketing throughout the GWM branch network

- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

What You’ll Bring:

- First point of contact experience in a sales and service desk capacity, in the securities industry

- Experience facilitating the new issue process from start to finish, from deal launch to deal settlement

- Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to clearly articulate process and policy

- Strong organizational skills

- Ability to take initiative, work independently and meet deadlines

- Meticulous attention to detail and excellent time management skills

- Exceptional client service skills, providing a professional and respectful experience

Work Arrangement:

This position is an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
