General Information/Job Summary

The HV Construction Project Director serves as the senior leader responsible for the construction execution of the High Voltage portfolio of Substation and Transmission projects. This role will provide senior level leadership and oversight of the construction execution across multiple projects and oversee the CM’s and Superintendents working within the portfolio.

Responsibilities/Competencies

- Assume responsibility for the construction of a portfolio of Substation and Transmission projects for a profitable, well-constructed, safe project, completed in a timely manner.
- POC to provide direction, support and management escalation from the construction team and will help resolve issues and remove obstacles for the construction teams.
- Establish the expectations for execution, safety, quality, productivity and accountability across the portfolio.
- Bid support for substation projects.
- Lead Construction Managers and Superintendents and build, mentor and develop construction teams within the portfolio.
- Support the teams to determine the most cost-effective construction methods and use of personnel, material, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with internal Saulsbury departments to support multiple work disciplines
- Develop long-term partnerships that generate repeat business opportunities for the portfolio.
- Promote and enforce safety as a priority as part of the Company’s management philosophy.
- Promote and set the expectation of quality and adherence to drawings in the execution of all HV projects
- Ensure that management is accurately and fully informed of project issues.
- Support construction functions as they relate to the completion of the project.
- Intervene and provide leadership on critical project challenges and recovery efforts.
- Comprehensive understanding of Project Controls, as it relates to planning, cost management, estimating, takeoffs, progress tracking, reporting, scheduling, and change/risk management.
- Represent the company as required at project meetings.
- Ensure construction team support of project scheduling, material management and cost management.
- Within the HV Construction group, establish the ability to provide constructability reviews & feedback to project specific Engineering teams during the design phase of projects
- Enforce and adhere to all Policies and Processes as it relates to this position and lead organizational improvement and best-practice implementation efforts.
- Actively participates on internal team(s) that focus on continuous improvement of the business.
- Ensure achievement of financial, operational, and client satisfaction objectives.
- Oversee project health, risk management, resource allocation, and executive reporting.
- Ensure consistency in project controls, reporting, forecasting, and execution methodologies.

Requirements

- 15+ years’ experience managing substation related construction projects
- 10+ years of experience with energizing and placing HV projects in service
- Construction or Engineering Degree Required.
- Engineering experience preferred.
- Up to 75% travel may be required.
- Possess understanding of project plans, specifications, drawings, P6 schedules, contracts, subcontract management, purchase orders, document control, submittals, and all other project management activities.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of professionals across multiple disciplines to achieve a common goal
- Able to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and teams who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Self-motivated with skills to motivate others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong computer skills.

Physical Requirements

- Prolonged periods sitting / standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to walk the property and laydown yards.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
