A Brief Summary of This Position

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Logistics Transportation Supervisor position in our Corporate Shared Services organization. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will provide the most efficient and economical value to the success of application solutions and optimization.

Essential Functions

- This position reports into the Senior Logistics Operations Manager with hourly direct reports.

- Travel overnight up to 15% (domestic and international) to support Logistics and TMS business development.

Supply Chain System Management and Analysis:

- Effectively manage projects relating to the development and implementation of Logistics project plans.

- Maintain and update detailed Logistics savings and recurring Logistics performance models, and provide analysis  to senior management on weekly, monthly, and/or ad hoc basis.

- Define and develop Logistics performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of Logistics factors, and provide ongoing analysis in areas such as transportation costs, carrier service and delivery processes.

- Collaborate with other departments to integrate Logistics with business systems or processes, such as procurement, order management, accounting, sales, marketing, logistics, production, or shipping.

- Formulate mathematical, statistical, and simulation models of Logistics risks, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters.

- Validate data in various databases to ensure accuracy and consistency, identify root causes of data inconsistency, and implement corrective action plans to meet business requirements.

- Demonstrate full knowledge of the product lines and ERP systems, and serve as a technical leader for assigned systems and/or service development, ability to educate and train end-users.

- Provide complex Logistics system (TMS) support and guidance to department members, research and respond to requests from functional groups, and resolve questions and issues related to reports and databases on a timely manner.

- Assist with development of projects plans to meet deadlines for major initiatives, drive various groups and cross-functional projects to promote smooth implementation of Logistics initiatives.

Logistics Strategy and Optimization:

- Collaborate with Supply Chain management team to forecast demand, establish forecasting procedures, models and quotas to identify changes and trends.

- Collaborate with senior managers and decision makers to identify and solve a variety of Logistics problems and to clarify management objectives.

- Challenge current Supply Chain and logistics strategies for product lines in order to make sure that the best and most appropriate strategy is being used, and to implement a technology-driven Logistics strategy that effectively and efficiently respond to customer and market demand.

- Integrate the business strategy and knowledge of business system capabilities into vision, and evaluate effectiveness of current and future logistical initiatives.

- Support business functions, working with functional leaders and providing periodical and ad-hoc analyses and reports as required.

- Execute project management disciplines to ensure projects and tasks completed on time and within budget, and business requirements delivered.

- Demonstrate thorough financial and statistical knowledge and ability to handle complex analytical issues on ad-hoc basis.

- Abides by all policies and procedures of Valmont Industries, Inc.

- Conducts research and seeks methods for moving the company to lean manufacturing.

- Projects as assigned by senior Logistics Leadership.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

- Preferred Bachelor’s with 5+ years relevant experience or Associate’s Degree with 7+ years relevant experience or 9+ years of relevant experience.

- Experience with integrating and implementing Logistics processes.

- Strong understanding of Logistics / Transportation principles, practices, and procedures in manufacturing environment.

- Advanced Microsoft Suite software skills, especially Excel modeling, Excel data analysis.

- Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning ERP software and related tool pack, IFS.

- Hands on experience of logistics planning software: Transportation Management System TMS.

- Ability to work with various software packages.

- Strong understanding of project management principles.

- Experience with integrating and implementing Logistics/Transportation processes.

- Passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.

- Ability to travel up to 15% (both domestic and international).

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain management, Information Technology, Operations or Finance.
- Advanced knowledge of business intelligence and/or analytical/statistical software: Oracle, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Minitab.

- Knowledge of project management and process mapping software: Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.  Up to 15% travel expectations that require overnight stays.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move about the office.  Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
