About the Role
The Box Office Supervisor plays a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences at Mesa Convention Center by overseeing daily box office operations and supervising ticket-selling staff. This position is responsible for coordinating event and ticketing information, ensuring accurate cash handling and sales reporting, assisting patrons with ticket purchases and inquiries, and maintaining efficient box office procedures. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, organized, and comfortable leading a team in a fast-paced live events environment while ensuring a high level of service for guests attending conventions, entertainment events, and community gatherings.
ABOUT MESA CONVENTION CENTER
Located in downtown Mesa, Arizona, Mesa Convention Center is the largest event venue in the East Valley. The venue features nearly 40,000 square feet of flexible meeting and exhibit space, 26 breakout rooms, 40,000 square feet of outdoor function space, and an outdoor amphitheater with capacity for up to 5,000 guests. From conferences and trade shows to community gatherings, festivals, and live entertainment, Mesa Convention Center provides a versatile setting for memorable events and experiences.
WHAT YOU’LL DO (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES)
- Supervises, instructs, and trains ticket sellers in proper selling procedures.
- Updates and coordinates all event information for ticket sellers.
- Opens and or closes ticket window as required.
- Accurately dispenses tickets as requested by patrons; accepts payment and makes change accurately.
- Maintains accurate count when selling hard tickets or accesses computer for count of computer printed tickets.
- Completes daily ticket sales report. Keeps accurate daily balance sheet of cash received and tickets sold; balances sales and change bank and submits cash to Box Office Manager for audit.
- Fills reservations for seats by telephone or mail, handles Will-Call window according to procedures, or other related duties as assigned by Manager.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills; responds promptly to customer needs; responds to requests for service and assistance; able to work independently and handle most box office questions without assistance.
- Efficiently and courteously answers questions concerning prices, seating and events. Gives information concerning coming attractions.
- Files various records and reports. Performs related clerical work as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING (QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE)
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Or 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Box office or guest services background preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices; ability to coordinate staff
- Ability to count money, make change accurately
- Ability to input data into a computer to record sales transactions
- Good communications skills. Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions. Able to read and interpret written information.
- Good problem-solving skills and organizational ability
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the team
- Good customer service skills and sense of public relations
WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL
- This role is based on site in Mesa, AZ
- You may be required to work a non traditional schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
