Internship, Technical Program Manager, Software, Energy Engineering (Winter/Spring 2027)

This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through the entire Winter/Spring term (i.e through April/May 2027) or into Summer 2027 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

Join the Energy Software team as a Technical Program Manager Intern, where you will play a pivotal role in developing software for Tesla’s products for power generation, energy storage, vehicle charging, grid services and AI. You will be an integral part of the engineering team, responsible for driving key projects across the organization. You will report to the Director of Energy Software and work closely with a team of passionate software engineers as well as partner teams in product development and engineering.

Location: Palo Alto, CA

- Drive software planning and programs across days, weeks, and months
- Regularly interface with the product leaders and ensure we are aligned to execute on our most important initiatives while balancing competing priorities
- Consolidate inputs from across teams into executive reviews highlighting risks and opportunities, successes and areas for improvement
- Maximize engineering team velocity by limiting work in progress, reducing team context switching and ensuring we are working on the most valuable projects
- Provide project leadership, foster collaboration, bring together teams to solve critical problems, and drive initiatives to completion
- Enable high velocity distributed decision making by driving alignment of strategic goals

- Currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering or related field
- Excellent written and spoken communication
- A passion for solving problems at the nexus of products, engineering, humans and organizations
- A strong sense of urgency in achieving Tesla's mission through high velocity engineering
- Ability to rapidly understand high level software & engineering concepts as they apply to program execution
- Ability to practice principled, strategic problem solving

Expected Compensation $20.00 - $50.00 + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
