Job Summary

The Facility Maintenance Helper is responsible for performing general maintenance, repair, and improvement work across industrial and office facilities to support safe, clean, and efficient operations. This role handles a wide range of building, equipment, and workplace upkeep tasks, responds to service requests, and helps ensure the site remains in good working condition.

The Facility Maintenance Helper:

- Supports day-to-day maintenance needs across office, warehouse, production, breakroom, and exterior facility areas
- Completes multiple work orders per shift, ranging from minor repairs and installations to preventive maintenance tasks
- Works with internal teams and outside vendors to address building, furniture, fixture, and equipment issues
- Helps maintain a safe, organized, and professional working environment for employees, visitors, and contractors

Essential Functions

- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on doors, locks, walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, fixtures, and office equipment
- Troubleshoot and complete basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and light electrical repairs within scope of training and company policy
- Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, weather stripping, hardware, and other common building components
- Assemble, move, and install office furniture, shelving, whiteboards, signage, and workstation accessories
- Support industrial facility upkeep by maintaining non-production areas, utility spaces, safety barriers, and general building conditions
- Conduct routine inspections to identify safety hazards, damage, wear, or maintenance issues and report items requiring specialized repair
- Maintain parking lots, walkways, gates, fences, and exterior areas, including basic cleanup and weather-related response as needed
- Use work orders or maintenance logs to document completed work, materials used, and follow-up needs
- Safely operate hand and power tools, ladders, lifts, and other maintenance equipment as authorized
- Follow all safety, food safety, GMP, and facility rules while working in office and industrial environments

Minimum Education and Experience Required

- High school diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of experience in general building maintenance, facilities support, handyman work, or a related trade preferred
- Working knowledge of carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, light electrical repair, and general mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read basic instructions, safety procedures, and work orders and complete tasks with limited supervision
- Experience working in commercial, warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environments preferred
- Basic computer or mobile device skills for receiving and updating work orders preferred
- Forklift, lift equipment, or safety training certifications are a plus, if applicable to site requirements

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements

- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods during the workday
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be comfortable working on ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms as needed
- Requires regular use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment with attention to safety and detail
- Work is performed in a combination of office, warehouse, production support, and outdoor environments
- May be exposed to noise, dust, temperature changes, moving equipment, and wet or uneven surfaces
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and safety shoes
- May need to work flexible hours or respond to urgent maintenance needs during off-hours, weekends, or shutdown periods
