Job Summary

- Seeking a Software Engineer to support the development, enhancement, integration, testing, and sustainment of complex software systems within a mission-focused environment
- This role includes front-end development, cloud application deployment, workflow automation, and integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities into established systems and processes
- The ideal candidate is a versatile software engineer with strong problem-solving skills, a solid foundation in software development principles, and experience working across modern web, cloud, automation, and DevOps technologies

Primary Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements
- Analyze user requirements to derive software design, functional, and performance requirements
- Design and develop user-friendly graphical user interfaces and interactive dashboards
- Build responsive and accessible web interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Develop software using Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and TypeScript
- Design, deploy, and manage applications and supporting infrastructure in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Work with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and RDS
- Support Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Integrate new functionality into existing applications and tools through technology transfer and system integration activities
- Design, implement, and maintain automated workflows that improve operational efficiency
- Develop Python scripts and use workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or AWS Step Functions
- Integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning models into existing software systems and workflows
- Monitor and optimize automated workflows and AI/ML model performance
- Debug existing software, diagnose software problems, and implement corrective actions
- Modify existing software to correct defects, adapt to new hardware or environments, improve performance, or add new functionality
- Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments
- Develop and optimize database and data repository interfaces and queries
- Develop simple and complex data queries for existing or proposed databases and repositories
- Design and implement algorithms to meet system functional and performance requirements
- Review and test software components for compliance with design requirements and document test results
- Assist with developing and executing unit, integration, and software component test procedures
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code
- Write, review, and maintain software and system documentation
- Provide recommendations for improving software development processes, documentation standards, and engineering practices
- Support system design activities, including hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS evaluation, and requirements allocation
- Analyze system performance standards, data flows, data usage, work processes, and problem areas to develop effective software solutions
- Design and modify software systems using analytical methods and models to evaluate design outcomes and performance
- Support CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments using Docker, and cloud security best practices
- Use tools such as Git and automated testing frameworks to support version control and software quality
- Collaborate with developers, system engineers, users, and other cross-functional team members throughout the software development lifecycle
- Work effectively both independently and as part of an Agile development team

Required Qualifications

- Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
- Experience developing, maintaining, testing, and integrating software systems
- Experience with software requirements analysis, design, development, debugging, integration, and testing
- Experience with Python and modern web development technologies
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Proficiency with at least one modern JavaScript framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Experience developing responsive web-based user interfaces
- Working knowledge of AWS cloud services and cloud-based application deployment
- Experience using Git and software testing frameworks
- Experience working within Agile software development environments
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team

Desired Qualifications

- TypeScript development experience
- Experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
- Experience with Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or similar workflow orchestration tools
- Experience integrating AI/ML models into software applications
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices
- Experience developing database interfaces and complex data queries
- Experience with COTS/GOTS integration and software reuse strategies

Exempt hourly position. 11 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks PTO, company sponsored group medical plan, company paid dental, vision, life insurance, and STD/LTD plans. Salary is dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
