Gift Shop Assistant Manager

Position Summary:

Provide direction to Gift Shop Clerk/Cashiers, Gift Shop Supervisors and Inventory Control Clerks. Ensure that AAA Four Diamond service standards are provided to all Guests and Team Members. In conjunction with the Retail Operations Manager, develop the Gift Shop Supervisors, Cashiers, and Inventory Control Clerks to perform their responsibilities in accordance with established Gift Shop policies, procedures, and objectives. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.

Essential Functions:

1. Practice, support, and promote Thunder Valley Casino Resorts ELITE company-wide service mission and demonstrate AAA Four Diamond service standards at all times.

2. Manage the daily retail staff including cashiers, floor team members, and inventory control clerks.

3. Ensure merchandise is clean, ready to be displayed, and in line with fluctuating supply and demand.

4. Arrange store displays to stimulate sales and maintain AAA Four Diamond standards.

5. Protect Team Members and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.

6. Assist with responding to Guest questions and opportunities.

7. Assist Team Members in stocking of merchandise and serving Guests.

8. Ensure Team Members are watchful of store merchandise to eliminate theft and spoilage.

9. Develop rapport with Guests with the objection of generating repeat Guest visits and sales, and coach Team Members to do the same.

10. Coach and develop Team Members to achieve expected goals by maintaining a consistent approachable demeanor and articulating department expectations.

11. Ensure Team Members are held equally accountable for all Thunder Valley Casino Resort and Gift Shop policy and procedures.

12. Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.

13. Assist the Retail Operations Manager in helping to achieve financial objectives and budgeted goals, assist with analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

14. Responsible for conducting daily huddles outlining activities and expectations to ensure AAA Four Diamond standards are achieved and maintained by Team Members.

15. Utilize point-of-sale (POS) system and inventory systems to record sales figures for data analysis and forward planning under direction of the Retail Operations Manager.

16. Assist Retail Operations Manager with the recruiting, selecting, and training Team Members.

17. Participate in purchasing, merchandising, and inventory management.

18. In conjunction with the Retail Operations Manager, monitor local competitors, help to identify new products and services, and understand current and future trends that appeal to Guests.

19. Assist with the development and implementation of marketing and business plans related to Gift Shop operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Five (5) years gift shop or other retail experience preferred.

2. Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a gift shop or other retail environment preferred.

3. Proficient in inventory tracking and retail systems.

4. Ability to understand basic accounting function.

5. Proficient math skills.

6. Basic computer skills preferred.

7. Must be organized and detail oriented.

8. Ability to handle Guest opportunities.

9. Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.

10. Must be at least 21 years of age.

11. Must be able to obtain UAIC Tribal Gaming License.

Physical Requirements:

1. Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

2. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

3. Ability to stand and move around gift shop for duration of shift.

4. Must be able to reach a height up to 6 feet with or without assistance.

5. Ability to climb and use a stepladder when necessary to perform functions of the job.

6. Manual dexterity to use job related equipment.
