Get to know the team

Join the Consumer Experience Pax App Core team whose job is to make everyone building the Grab Super App faster. We own the architecture, build times, CI/CD and developer tooling behind one of the largest mobile codebases in Southeast Asia, and we are now extending that platform so engineers and AI agents can work in it side by side: the context, guardrails and primitives that let an agent make a safe change in a codebase this size, and the developer experience that lets a human trust it.

Get to know the role

As a technical leader, you will solve ambiguous, challenges and shape the architecture, infrastructure, and AI foundations that help Grab's engineers build the Super App faster and more safely. You will define coding principles and technical standards, assess and mitigate risks, monitor outcomes, and drive adoption across the wider iOS community. You will apply strong AI fundamentals and to determine what to build, adopt, or avoid. You will partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders from ideation through rollout, while mentoring and coaching colleagues, delegating effectively, and helping raise the team's bar through strong processes, standards, and hiring decisions.

The Day-to-Day Activities

- Lead the technical direction of the PAX iOS app, including architecture, modularisation, and coding principles that enable engineers and AI agents to extend the app safely.
- Design and develop reliable, measurable AI primitives—such as context, tooling, guardrails, and evaluation—for mobile development at scale.
- Improve adoption across feature teams through RFCs, migration plans, guidelines, and enablement, with accountability for sustainable outcomes.
- Collaborate with design platform, mobile platform, and cross-functional stakeholders to align technical strategy and resolve complex business, legal, and product needs.
- Strengthen engineering quality and through risk management, on-call and incident response, code and design reviews, mentorship, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years of iOS development, with expertise in Swift and Objective-C and experience working in large, long-lived codebases.
- Strong command of AI fundamentals for software engineering is essential, including context engineering, tool use, and function calling. Agentic workflows, retrieval, evaluation, and common failure modes are also crucial. Additionally, hands-on experience building, deploying, measuring, and safeguarding LLM-powered tools or product capabilities is required.
- Experience selecting, evolving, and guiding architectural approaches such as MVVM or VIPER, alongside a strong understanding of large-scale application operations, system internals, crash analytics, remote debugging, observability, and phased rollouts.
- Experience creating detailed technical documentation, with the ability to explain system health, growth opportunities, updates, and resolutions clearly to customers and cross-functional partners.
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving team processes, engineering standards, and ways of working.
