Are you a commercially minded professional with a passion for retail and a talent for negotiation?

We are seeking an energetic Assistant Category Manager to join our dynamic Buying team. In this pivotal role, you will work hand-in-hand with our Category Managers to design and execute high-impact category plans. You will play a vital part in delivering promotional programmes that are better for our customers, simpler for our store teams, and highly effective in hitting our financial targets. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a fast-moving portfolio, which could span exciting grocery non-food categories such as Beauty, Stationery, Home & Family, or Toys & Party.

What you’ll do

- Deliver market-leading value to our customers by driving the end-to-end promotional lifecycle and carefully managing the frequency, depth, funding, and phasing of our promotions.
- Maximise category profitability and achieve financial targets through active negotiation with external suppliers to secure crucial promotional investments and optimal executions.
- Optimise promotional return on investment by regularly analysing sales data, inventory metrics, and customer insights to ensure all commercial offers are strictly customer-led.
- Ensure seamless operational execution of campaigns by collaborating closely with cross-functional internal stakeholders across Marketing, Online, Replenishment, and Store Operations.
- Increase brand visibility and customer engagement by managing the end-to-end execution of key offers across brochure spaces, sales planning, and in-store event areas.
- Minimise in-store operational complexity by championing productive relationships with external suppliers and internal support teams to ensure all commercial plans are simple for stores to execute.

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this fast-paced and rewarding environment, you will bring a blend of commercial curiosity, strong organisation, and exceptional people skills. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

- Strong commercial acumen with an analytical mindset, comfortable using retail data and financial metrics to make smart business decisions.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, with the confidence to build collaborative, win-win relationships with external suppliers.
- Superb organisation and time-management skills, allowing you to balance competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-moving retail environment.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.
- A highly adaptable approach to work, showing a willingness to learn, pivot quickly when market conditions change, and support the broader team.
- Strong computer literacy, particularly with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace applications being highly advantageous.

What you’ll experience

- A global business with endless career possibilities around every corner and across every discipline – with valuable exposure to a vast and exciting business network.
- A commitment to flexibility through a hybrid working model which combines time spent at a support office or hub and time working from home, supporting both in-person connection and balancing the flexibility that remote working provides for our teams.
- Team discounts across our range of Woolworths Group brands you know and love and a robust rewards program that celebrates and incentivises purpose-driven work.
