The team you will be a part of

The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
## This role in summary

Whirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Shift Lead. The role will be based at our Perrysburg, OH plant. As a shift lead, you will be responsible for leading the entire third shift operation of a world class plastic injection molding plant on its journey to becoming the benchmark for Whirlpool in automation. In this challenging role, you will be called upon as both a technical leader to drive continuous improvements to safety, quality, delivery, and cost of the process as well as leading your team in meeting daily production objectives.

Your responsibilities will include

- Lead all team members on the shift in the attainment of production goals (SQDCE)
- Serve as the key communication link with the other shifts to facilitate a smooth transition of data and clear communication of problems/issues.
- Assure proper utilization of facilities, tools, equipment, materials and manpower to effectively meet safety, quality and production requirements.
- Must possess a strong working knowledge of plant manufacturing operations, processes and production flow.
- Work effectively with your peers to share knowledge and leverage strengths
- Lead problem solving for equipment issues
- Facilitate projects and teach / mentor / train shop floor teams
- Develop technicians in advanced problem-solving and skill training
- Utilize excellent communication and documentation skills to transfer critical processes and support knowledge to others
- Maintain good employee relations and communications.
- Assure that all plant policies and procedures are enforced as well as administered fairly and consistently.
- Provide input for personnel ratings as required.
- Work cross-functionally to drive solutions.
- Lead process implementation, process optimization, and root cause analysis
- Lead capital projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Ensure equipment is in World Class condition
- Provide project management of new and existing equipment / tooling.
- Support building and operating a highly automated facility
- Knowledge of Kronos, SAP, Google applications, etc.
- Understanding of WCM (World Class Manufacturing)
- Ability to lead the team on a third shift swing shift schedule

Minimum requirements

- Bachelor's Degree Engineering or Engineering Technology
- 5+ years manufacturing experience

Preferred skills and experiences

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering
- Proven success in a fast-paced environment
- Proven success in the personal development of employees
- Experience with Injection Molding, light assembly processes, decoration technologies, AGV’s/AMR
- Experience with Fanuc 6 axis robots.
- Experience setting up new processes and optimizing existing processes.
- Experience leading teams
- Experience in World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Safety (SAF), Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Professional Maintenance (PM)
- Experience using CAD software such as Creo, Solidworks, AutoCAD
- WCM (World Class Manufacturing) experience
- Organizational, verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
- Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
