Senior Instrumentation Engineer

Job Description

- Lead and review instrumentation detail design deliverables, including instrument index, datasheets, loop diagrams, hook-ups, cable schedules, JB schedules, I/O lists, and cause & effect matrices.
- Develop and review P&IDs, control philosophies, and instrumentation design basis for offshore facilities.
- Ensure design compliance with client specifications, international standards (IEC, ISA, API, ISO), and hazardous area requirements.
- Review and approve instrument sizing and selection for flow, level, pressure, temperature, analyzers, control valves, PSVs, and F&G devices.
- Review vendor documents and package instrumentation for compliance and integration.
- Support SIL studies (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL verification) and implement outcomes in design.
- Specify and review control and safety systems (DCS, ESD, F&G, PCS/SIS) and their interfaces with packages and third-party systems.
- Prepare technical requisitions, bid evaluations, and technical clarifications.
- Attend vendor kick-off meetings, inspections, FAT, and expedite as required.
- Manage vendor data reviews and close out technical queries.
- Provide site engineering support during construction, installation, and hook-up, including resolving RFIs, NCRs, and field changes.
- Verify installation quality against approved drawings, specifications, and hazardous area requirements.
- Lead loop checks, calibration, pre-commissioning, and commissioning support, including SAT and punch list closure.
- Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and QA/QC teams to keep the schedule and quality on track.
- Support offshore hook-up and commissioning campaigns and mobilization where required.
- Plan, monitor, and report discipline progress, man-hours, and budget.
- Interface with process, electrical, telecom, mechanical, piping, and structural disciplines.
- Manage client comments, technical queries, and change management, including variation orders.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers and review their deliverables.
- Ensure HSE, quality, and document control requirements are met.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Control Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in oil & gas, with substantial experience in offshore EPC projects.
- Proven experience in detail engineering of instrumentation and control systems.
- Hands-on site experience covering construction support, loop checking, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of DCS, ESD, and F&G systems, hazardous area classification, and SIL concepts.
- Experience with engineering software such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/INtools), AutoCAD, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
