• Fast-paced, dynamic trading environment with time-sensitive, business critical activities requiring instantaneous analyses and generation of reports

• The Middle Office Analyst is part of the Global Risk Control team involving Houston, London, and Singapore

• The Middle Office Analyst works closely with Front Office, Operations, Back Office, Finance, Compliance, and Trading System teams. The team works across locations and product types including natural gas, LNG, Power, Renewables and Dry Bulk products

• The Middle Office is responsible for calculating profits and losses and for managing the risks of the trading department. It is responsible for all aspects of market risk control, such as risk identification, measurement, monitoring and disclosure across various classes of energy commodity assets

JOB DIMENSION

- The job holder will work in the Global Risk Control department, under the supervision of Middle Office Supervisor, and will seek to measure, analyse and monitor the P&L, exposure and the Value-at-Risk of the Trading Desks.
- The position is based in Singapore and include oversight of both global and Asian energy markets.

ACTIVITIES

Your missions as a Middle Office Analyst include:

• Model, value and analyse market risks for trading activities relating to the portfolio of Gas, Power and LNG

• Control physical and financial transactions, transport, storage and currency exchange operations and validate prices in computer systems

• Monitor the entry of transactions on time, compliance with trading limits and the application of the risk policy to ensure the representativeness and integrity of transactions in the systems

• Analyse Mark to Market valuations, risk positions and realized profits /losses on a daily basis

• Develop and maintain analytical reports on risk positions and trading results for traders and management

• Work closely with Traders, Operations, Back Office and Finance teams to measure and explain the sources of market risk to which portfolios are exposed

• Maintain and improve risk models

• Support, identify and contribute to the improvement of processes and systems

• Optimise files, data processing and data analysis using VBA, Python, Alteryx

• Retrieve external website data (website parsing, API connection, etc)

• Automate daily processes

• Create and automate dashboards to provide value-added information to internal stakeholders

Education and Work Experience

- Degree qualified in Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics or Quantitative discipline
- Experience in the commodities market
- Knowledge of risk measures (sensitivities, option greeks, VaR, etc)

Essential Qualities

- High degree of accuracy and efficiency under set deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Data-oriented personality
- Good interpersonal skills

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Good scripting and programming skills (Python, VBA)
- Experience with data science tools, such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, PowerBI
