Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing Investment Services business as a Custody Network Manager.
GENERAL SUMMARY :
The Global Network Manager is responsible for the strategy, selection, governance, and oversight of U.S. Bank's global network of sub-custodian banks, cash correspondent banks, central securities depositories, and other market infrastructure providers. The role supports the bank's global custody, cash, digital and depositary services businesses by ensuring a resilient, risk-managed, and best in class network that enables client investment activity across global markets.
The Global Network Manager partners closely with leaders across Business Lines, Operations, Product, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Treasury, Tax, and Technology to drive market expansion, enhance client solutions, mitigate risk, and deliver superior service outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Network Management & Strategic Relationships
- Develop and manage relationships with sub-custodian banks, cash correspondents, market infrastructures, and other strategic service providers globally.
- Lead RFI/RFP processes, provider evaluations, due diligence reviews, and market assessments.
- Negotiate custody agreements, correspondent banking documentation, fee schedules, and service level commitments.
- Monitor provider performance, financial strength, operational resilience, and regulatory standing.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for significant custody, settlement, cash, and operational issues involving network providers.
- Support new market openings, product launches, and business growth initiatives.
Risk, Governance & Regulatory Oversight
- Conduct ongoing due diligence and risk assessments in accordance with enterprise and business standards.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Information Security teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and corporate requirements.
- Monitor geopolitical, regulatory, operational, and market infrastructure developments and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support audits, regulatory examinations, client due diligence requests, and governance reviews.
Market Intelligence & Client Advisory
- Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned markets, market infrastructures, settlement practices, and regulatory environments.
- Maintain market intelligence, risk assessments, and best-practice guidance for internal and external clients.
- Publish market updates, operational alerts, and regulatory notifications.
- Deliver client presentations, market briefings, and thought leadership on industry developments and market trends.
- Provide consultative support to clients and internal stakeholders regarding market access, custody solutions, and local market practices.
Industry & Business Engagement
- Identify opportunities to enhance network capabilities, improve service delivery, reduce risk, and optimize costs.
- Represent U.S. Bank in industry forums, market advocacy groups, provider governance meetings, and client events.
- Monitor emerging trends, including digital assets, market modernization, settlement reform, and operational resiliency initiatives.
- Support sales, product, and relationship management teams in client engagements, due diligence meetings, and business development efforts.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Review and maintain expertise in applicable regulations, market practices, and internal policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of risk management, accountability, ethics, and client focus consistent with U.S. Bank's values and Code of Ethics.
- Actively ensure compliance with the U.S. Bank Code of Ethics and all Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements, policies and procedures.
Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in Global Custody, Network Management, Securities Services, Correspondent Banking, Capital Markets, or related financial services.
- Strong knowledge of global custody, sub-custody, cash correspondent banking, market infrastructure, settlement practices, EU depositary services, and prime brokerage.
- Proven experience in relationship management, contract negotiations, provider due diligence, and third-party risk oversight.
- Solid understanding of global regulatory frameworks, operational risk, and securities market practices.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives, clients, market entities, and strategic partners.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics effectively.
- Strong client-service orientation and ability to manage multiple priorities in a global environment.
- Knowledge of geopolitical developments and global financial markets.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages preferred.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10%).
Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
