Caching Engineering Lead

Job Description

Purpose of the role

To apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response, to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through them.

Accountabilities

- Availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
- Resolution, analysis and response to system outages and disruptions, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
- Development of tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
- Monitoring and optimisation of system performance and resource usage, identify and address bottlenecks, and implement best practices for performance tuning.
- Collaboration with development teams to integrate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle, and work closely with other teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

To be successful in this role as a Caching Engineering Lead you should possess the following skillsets:

Essential Skills:

- Proven experience of Caching and Distributed cache architecture, with exposure to technologies such as Redis, GridGain, or similar caching platforms.

- Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Code versioning (git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers and Kubernetes (OpenShift), database CI/CD tools and their implementation

- Experience in implementing Redis Container patterns on Kubernetes with the help of a Redis operator or a Helm chart
- Proven ability to provide 10+ years of proven experience of Caching and Distributed cache architecture, with exposure to technologies such as Redis, GridGain, or similar caching platforms.

- Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Code versioning (git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers and Kubernetes (OpenShift), database CI/CD tools and their implementation

- Experience in implementing Redis Container patterns on Kubernetes with the help of a Redis operator or a Helm chart
- Proven ability to provide drive architectural decisions, technical leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

- Experience in Observability tools e.g. Observe/Prometheus/Grafana.

- Extensive experience working with large, distributed, high-performance, high-availability infrastructure with 24/7 uptime

- Good knowledge of Python, Ansible and Kafka to support the end-to-end automation journey.

- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills

Some other highly valued skills include:

- Working experience in a financial environment

- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)

- Good knowledge in system configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible for database server configurations.
- Good understanding of REST API development .
