Role Purpose
The Head of Information Technology is responsible for leading and delivering the organisation’s technology strategy, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable IT services that support business objectives. The role provides strategic direction and operational oversight across IT infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, data, service delivery, and technology projects while ensuring effective governance, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the IT strategy and roadmap in alignment with business objectives
- Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of IT infrastructure, systems, applications, and support services
- Ensure the availability, performance, reliability, and scalability of critical technology services
- Oversee IT service management, including incident, problem, change, and request management
- Lead cybersecurity, information security, access management, and data protection initiatives
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices
- Manage technology risks, business continuity, disaster recovery, and IT controls
- Oversee the selection, implementation, integration, and lifecycle management of IT systems and platforms
- Lead IT projects and ensure delivery within agreed scope, timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Manage relationships with technology suppliers, service providers, and strategic partners
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring effective cost control and value from technology investments
- Lead, coach, and develop the IT team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and service excellence
- Provide technology guidance and support to senior leadership and business stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to use technology, automation, and data to improve operational efficiency and customer experience
- Monitor and report on IT performance, service levels, risks, projects, and key performance indicators
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is essential
- Relevant postgraduate qualification or professional certification will be advantageous
- Proven experience leading an IT function in a medium to large organisation
- Strong experience across IT infrastructure, systems, applications, service delivery, cybersecurity, and technology governance
- Experience developing and executing IT strategies, budgets, roadmaps, and transformation initiatives
- Demonstrated experience leading IT teams and managing internal and external stakeholders
- Experience managing technology vendors, contracts, and service-level agreements
- Strong understanding of information security, data protection, business continuity, and IT risk management
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, project management, and decision-making skills
