Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a part-time opportunity where you would be working 20 hours per week.

The Literacy Coach will serve as the school's literacy and instructional improvement specialist, supporting teachers through evidence-based coaching practices grounded in the Science of Reading, data-driven decision making, and implementation of high-quality literacy instruction and intervention programs.

- Collaborate with the principal to develop and implement a strategic literacy coaching plan aligned to school improvement goals.
- Spend the majority of coaching time working directly in classrooms alongside teachers and students through modeling, co-teaching, observation, coaching cycles, and side-by-side support.
- Analyze collaboratively with teaching staff, student screening, diagnostic, formative, and progress-monitoring data to inform instruction, grouping decisions, and intervention planning within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
- Synthesize student performance data and teacher practice data to establish coaching goals and provide differentiated, needs-based support to educators.
- Support implementation of evidence-based literacy curricula, instructional materials, and intervention programs with fidelity.
- Monitor the effectiveness of literacy instruction and interventions and support teachers in adjusting instructional practices based on student data.
- Provide professional development and coaching focused on:
- Explicit and systematic reading instruction
- Foundational literacy skills
- Reading comprehension
- Writing instruction
- Dyslexia awareness and intervention strategies
- Science of Reading best practices

Qualifications:

- Minimum of five years of documented successful classroom teaching or literacy intervention experience at the assigned grade levels.
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Scientifically based reading research
- Evidence-based literacy instruction and intervention
- Dyslexia-specific interventions
- Student data analysis and application to instruction
- The Science of Reading and structured literacy practices
