The Opportunity:

The investment professional will lead deal teams in sourcing, evaluating, performing due diligence, and monitoring real estate investment opportunities across primary funds and transactions (co-investments, secondaries, and joint ventures). The individual will drive the transaction process, conduct in-person and virtual manager meetings, and have full responsibility for transaction underwriting assumptions and financial models. The individual will have responsibility over monitoring existing investments for consistency with stated strategies, performance, trends and other qualitative and quantitative aspects. The individual will also assist in business development initiatives, develop client and manager relationships, oversee junior team members, and collaborate with colleagues across the firm.

Responsibilities:

- Lead, originate, and evaluate real estate investments across primary funds, direct co-investments, secondary transactions and joint ventures
- Execute rigorous investment due diligence including financial and qualitative analyses
- Maintain responsibility for detailed financial models
- Develop and actively manage relationships with real estate managers, institutional clients, and intermediaries to source and screen new investment opportunities
- Oversee the negotiation and closing of investment transactions, coordinating across internal legal, operations, and compliance teams

- Monitor and report on existing investments, track key performance indicators, and contribute to portfolio value creation
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of real estate trends, competitive landscape, and macroeconomic developments
- Mentor and develop Associates, Analysts, and other junior team members, building skills and driving a collaborative team culture
- Act as an ambassador for the real estate platform, representing Hamilton Lane at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
- Collaborate with client solutions and other internal groups to address client requests, reporting, business development initiatives, and deliver high-quality client service
- Support new idea generation, pipeline management, and special projects that further the team's strategic objectives

Qualifications:

Must-haves:

- 10+ years’ relevant investment experience, including transaction experience with real estate, secondary purchases, and/or direct investing, directly aligned to the specific responsibilities for this position
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)
- Demonstrated experience leading investment due diligence and transaction execution, particularly for co-investments and direct investments, with additional exposure to fund and/or secondary transactions
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills including modeling, valuation, and structuring
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in written and verbal form
- Experience managing, mentoring, or supervising junior investment professionals

- Excellent relationship management skills with managers, clients, and other stakeholders
- Measurable success as a strategic thinker
- Ability to present and defend opinions and investment theses
- Ability to be self-directed and actively seek out information and resources to complete assignments effectively and efficiently
- A collaborative, professional, and inclusive approach with high levels of integrity and work ethic

Nice-to-haves:

- Advanced degree (MBA / equivalent) or CFA
- Experience with public speaking or representing a firm at industry events
- Broad network within the US real estate community
- Prior experience working across real estate primary, secondary, and co-investment strategies

Travel Requirements:

- Up to 25% domestic
