Quality Inspector – Fresh Produce

Pay: $18.00/hour
Schedule: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Days: Monday – Saturday (Sundays and one day off a week)

Job Summary

We are hiring a Quality Inspector to help ensure fresh vegetables and produce meet established quality, food safety, customer, and regulatory standards .

This position will inspect incoming produce shipments, monitor product quality throughout inventory, perform outbound inspections, and maintain accurate quality control records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced refrigerated warehouse environment .

Responsibilities

- Inspect incoming shipments of fresh vegetables and produce for quality, condition, and freshness
- Perform quality inspections on outbound shipments before products leave the facility
- Inspect finished products and packaging to ensure they meet established quality standards
- Evaluate inventory and categorize products based on quality, condition, and usability
- Identify damaged, distressed, spoiled, or non-conforming product
- Complete accurate quality control inspection reports and documentation
- Communicate quality concerns to supervisors and appropriate internal departments
- Assist with decisions regarding damaged, questionable, or non-conforming product
- Place products on hold or quarantine when necessary and release products when approved
- Conduct outgoing quality checks and review inspections completed by shipping personnel
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation
- Follow all GMP, food safety, health and safety, and company procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of company and personnel information
- Perform other quality control duties as assigned

Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED required
- 1+ year of quality inspection, produce inspection, food quality, or related experience preferred
- Experience in produce, food distribution, agriculture, or refrigerated warehouse operations is a plus
- Knowledge of GMP and food safety principles
- Basic understanding of fresh fruit and vegetable quality standards preferred
- Basic computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to identify and clearly communicate quality issues
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Must be flexible to work Monday through Saturday

Working Conditions

- Work in a refrigerated warehouse environment, generally 45–55°F
- Warehouse environment may include noise from packaging equipment and forklift traffic
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the facility
- Regular bending, twisting, reaching, and handling of products and packaging
- Ability to regularly lift up to 30 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have sufficient vision and attention to detail to inspect produce, packaging, and product condition
