Search Serving Infrastructure (SSI) provides the framework for the sustainable, performant, and reliable execution of Search products and features at scale. In close collaboration with DeepMind, Search is evolving at a rapid pace, with the platform being reimagined for Artificial Intelligence (AI)-first experiences like AI Overviews (AIO) and AI Mode (AIM). While we continue to optimize the classic Search Results Page (SRP), our primary focus for 2026 is supercharging rapidly-growing AI experiences. We are set to dramatically speed up products like AIM and AIO through full-stack optimizations, ranging from low-level thread scheduling to User Interface (UI) rendering performance.In Google Search, we're reimagining what it means to search for information – any way and anywhere. To do that, we need to solve complex engineering challenges and expand our infrastructure, while maintaining a universally accessible and useful experience that people around the world rely on. Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 6 years of experience programming in C++.
- 4 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, software design and architecture.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience integrating generative AI tools or Large Language Model (LLM) interfaces into workflows.
- Write and test product or system development code.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
