Role Overview

The Quality Engineer supports aerospace manufacturing operations by performing and assisting with inspection activities, quality data collection, and basic quality system execution to ensure products meet engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role applies foundational knowledge of inspection methods, GD&T, and quality systems to support AS9100-compliant processes. The position works closely with Manufacturing, Production, and senior Quality Engineers to support First Article Inspections, in-process inspection activities, and continuous improvement efforts in a CNC machining environment.

What   You’ll   Do...

- Perform and support dimensional and visual inspections using manual measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators

- Assist with First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 requirements

- Interpret engineering drawings and apply basic GD&T principles to support inspection activities

- Collect, record, and organize inspection data for quality reports, control plans, and customer documentation

- Support development and maintenance of inspection plans, work instructions, and quality documentation

- Assist with SPC data collection, basic control charting, and process monitoring activities

- Support CMM inspection activities including setup, execution, and basic program use under guidance (PC-DMIS or similar)

- Help identify and document nonconforming material using established quality systems (NCRs)

- Participate in root cause analysis activities by supporting data collection and basic problem-solving tools (5 Whys, Fishbone)

- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to support production inspection and resolve routine quality issues

- Assist in maintaining calibration records, inspection documentation, and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements

- Support internal audits and readiness activities by gathering documentation and verifying compliance

- Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and quality systems to support reporting and documentation

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection environment in accordance with EHS requirements

- Follow all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and hazard reporting expectations

You have...

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience

- 2+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering-related roles

- Experience in a manufacturing or precision machining environment preferred

- Exposure to AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems preferred

- Internship or co-op experience in aerospace or manufacturing quality strongly beneficial

Skills & Competencies

- Working knowledge of quality inspection principles and manufacturing processes

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and basic GD&T requirements

- Familiarity with dimensional inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges

- Basic experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) processes (AS9102)

- Exposure to SPC concepts including basic control charts and data tracking

- Basic experience or exposure to CMM operation and inspection software (PC-DMIS or similar)

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inspection work

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

- Ability to follow procedures, standard work, and quality system requirements consistently

- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple routine tasks

- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and adaptability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice to have...

- Hands-on experience in CNC machining or aerospace manufacturing environments

- Exposure to AS9100 audits or internal quality system activities

- Familiarity with more advanced GD&T application under supervision

- Experience assisting with CAPA or root cause investigations

- Exposure to metrology equipment beyond basic tools (optical comparators, etc.)

- Basic familiarity with ERP or QMS systems for quality documentation

- Interest in developing toward independent inspection planning and problem-solving responsibility

- Strong “roll up your sleeves” mindset in a shop-floor environment
