CDL Driver & Chem Worker

Position Summary:

The Chemical Worker/Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous products, materials, and supplies in liquid, loose, or packaged form. This role operates gasoline- or diesel-powered commercial vehicles while ensuring compliance with DOT, ICC, environmental, and company safety regulations. The position also supports warehouse operations, equipment inspections, loading and unloading activities, hazardous waste management, and customer service functions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Safely transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials in compliance with all applicable regulations and company safety standards.
- Read and interpret customer orders, shipping documents, purchase orders, bills of lading, and related transportation paperwork.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required condition reports.
- Pick up products from vendors, verify product accuracy, quantities, and documentation, and deliver materials to company facilities and customer locations.
- Maintain accurate driver logs and complete all required transportation and regulatory documentation.
- Load and unload trucks and operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as needed.
- Collect and return empty containers and product returns.
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance checks of trucks, equipment, and supplies.
- Support warehouse operations, including housekeeping and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, and safety hazards in accordance with company emergency response procedures.
- Assist with hazardous waste handling, storage, inspections, spill response, documentation, and regulatory recordkeeping.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two years of related driving, transportation, warehouse, or logistics experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the ability to maintain driving eligibility.
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) and Tanker endorsements
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination.
- Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, operating instructions, and transportation documents.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to solve routine operational and transportation-related problems.
- Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and quality service.
- Clean MVR and in good standing with the Clearing House

Preferred

- Previous forklift certification or forklift operating experience.
- Experience transporting hazardous materials.
- Experience with warehouse operations and inventory handling.
- Knowledge of hazardous waste management and environmental compliance requirements.

Work Environment:

- Regular work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to trucks, warehouse equipment, mechanical equipment, and moving machinery.
- Occasional exposure to chemicals, fuel products, noise, fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous materials.
- May occasionally work at elevated or potentially hazardous locations.
- Must follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to safely enter and exit commercial vehicles multiple times throughout the day.
- Sufficient visual acuity, including close vision, color vision, and depth perception, to safely operate vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to perform loading, unloading, warehouse, and inspection activities in a physically demanding environment.
- Ability to work in varied weather and environmental conditions.
