Group Product Manager, Gemini App Privacy and AI Data Governance, DeepMind

As the Gemini App continues to evolve into a deeply personal, multimodal, and agentic AI assistant for billions of people worldwide, protecting user privacy and governing how data flows across consumer experiences and frontier model training is a critical priority. As the Principal Product Manager for Gemini App Privacy and AI Data Governance, you will own the overarching direction, product strategy, and road map for the features, user controls, and underlying data governance platforms that protect Gemini App users' data and keep Gemini compliant with rapidly evolving global privacy and AI regulations.

In this role, you will operate at the nexus of consumer trust, frontier AI research, and global regulatory strategy. You will lead end-to-end product experiences, including transparent user data controls, privacy settings, and training data opt-outs, while architecting the back-end AI data governance pipelines that enforce those promises across the AI product lifecycle. Partnering directly with Privacy and Data Governance Engineering teams, Legal, Regulatory Affairs and partner Product teams, your work will set the standard for privacy-preserving consumer AI.

Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or equivalent practical experience.

- 12 years of experience in product management or a related role, leading consumer or platform products or data protection initiatives.

- 6 years of experience in privacy, data governance, or data protection.

- Experience building data governance or regulatory compliance products in a consumer-facing context.

Preferred qualifications:

- Master's degree or PhD in a technology, computer science, law/policy, or a business-related field.

- Expertise in AI-specific privacy and data governance, including training and post-training (RLHF) data lineage, user consent and controls, PII anonymization/redaction, differential privacy, and global privacy regulatory compliance frameworks.

- Proven track record of translating complex, ambiguous global regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, EU AI Act, CCPA/CPRA, DMA, and global data sovereignty mandates) into scalable, automated product architectures and intuitive user controls.

- Define and drive the strategic roadmap for user-facing privacy controls and AI data governance infrastructure across the Gemini App ecosystem.

- Design and ship consumer privacy features, including granular controls over conversation history, connected app permissions, data deletion lifecycles, and clear transparency into user data usage.

- Partner with engineering and data platform teams to build scalable consent enforcement, PII scrubbing, and access-control systems that ensure data handling honors user settings and applicable law.

- Partner with Legal, Policy, and Engineering leadership to navigate global regulatory ambiguity (including GDPR, the EU AI Act, and state/international laws), translating legal obligations into automated compliance platforms that mitigate risk while preserving product velocity.

- Serve as primary product manager on Gemini App privacy for DeepMind and Google executive leadership, aligning teams across Core Privacy, Security, and Trust & Safety.
