The Hayes Locums Sales Internship is an immersive, hands-on program designed for ambitious students interested in sales, business development, recruiting, and relationship management.
Over the course of this paid eight-week internship, you'll gain real-world experience within one of the nation's leading physician staffing firms while learning the fundamentals of consultative sales. You'll work alongside experienced Sales Consultants and leaders, develop professional business skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that impact the business.
This program is designed to provide a realistic preview of a career in healthcare staffing sales.
Top-performing interns may be considered for future full-time Sales Consultant opportunities upon graduation.
Program Details:
• Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida (In-Office)
• Dates: June 7 – July 29, 2027
• Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (in-office)
• Hours: 20 paid hours per week
• Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
• Lunch: One-hour unpaid lunch break daily
What You’ll Learn
Throughout the program, you'll receive structured training and hands-on exposure to the Hayes Locums sales process, including:
• Consultative sales and relationship-building techniques
• Business development and prospecting strategies
• Professional communication and negotiation fundamentals
• Physician staffing and the locum tenens healthcare industry
• CRM systems and pipeline management
• Sales operations and business workflows
• Cross-functional collaboration and teamwork
You'll learn directly from experienced Sales Consultants and leaders while gaining exposure to real business challenges and opportunities.
What You Will Do
As a Sales Intern, you'll support the business while developing foundational sales and professional skills.
Responsibilities include:
• Assist Sales Consultants with administrative processes related to physician placement activities
• Participate in outbound prospecting efforts, including phone calls, messaging, and candidate outreach
• Maintain and update CRM and internal systems with accuracy and attention to detail
• Collaborate with sales, recruiting, operations, and support teams to better understand the sales cycle
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and sales development activities
• Support projects that enhance sales operations and business performance
• Shadow high-performing consultants and leaders to gain insight into successful sales strategies
• Complete a Capstone Project focused on a real business initiative and present recommendations to Sales Leadership at the conclusion of the program
Examples of capstone projects may include evaluating internal systems, improving workflow efficiencies, enhancing user experiences, or identifying process improvement opportunities
What You Bring
We're looking for students who are motivated, curious, coachable, and excited to learn about professional sales.
Required Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree with an anticipated graduation date during the 2027-2028 academic year
• Strong interest in sales, recruiting, business development, or related career paths
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• High attention to detail and professionalism
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business applications
• Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
• Major, minor, concentration, or certification in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Professional Selling, Psychology, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality, or a related field
• Prior sales, business, leadership, customer service, athletics, campus organization, or recruiting experience
• Demonstrated interest in relationship-driven or client-facing careers
