Principal Associate, Process Management: Performance Marketing and Analytics Well-Managed Team
The Performance Marketing and Analytics (PM&A) Well-Managed team is a newly created, but vital, cross-functional team dedicated to ensuring the Affiliate Marketing team that supports US Card acquisitions operates a well managed business through Process Level Assessments, Risk Management, Audit Support, Controls testing, Change Management, process documentation, risk assessments and more. The team collaborates closely with support teams including Risk, Legal, Compliance, Enterprise Supplier Management, external third parties (including affiliate partners), strategic intent partners and more to maintain our commitment to process management excellence.
As a member of the well managed team within the PM&A organization, this associate will be an integral part of a team of highly skilled Process Managers within an organization serving as a beacon of risk management. This role offers the opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate is an experienced process manager who can autonomously support partner groups by ensuring processes are managed effectively while mitigating risks. The ideal candidate will be organized, a critical thinker and a great communicator who is comfortable navigating through ambiguity, leveraging data, and exercising exceptional critical thinking skills. Additionally, this role will predominantly support the newly created L2, Manage External Affiliate Marketing.
Affiliate Marketing is one of Capital One’s largest Card Acquisition channels and is highly complex, supporting marketing spread across ~20 affiliate partners and ~40 different websites. The internal team works closely with a third party to manage the Affiliate relationships to ensure marketing is compliant with all laws, regulations and internal policies.
Responsibilities :
- Support a well managed agenda through individual performance and critical thinking
- Support and drive positive outcomes for audits/exams, risk assessments, Process Level Assessments (PLAs), business continuity, control evaluation, control testing and control builds as well as process management/improvement
- Partner with risk management, event management and compliance teams to ensure breakdowns are contained, recovered / remediated, properly documented and future breakdown occurrences are prevented
- Make recommendations and drive positive outcomes that simultaneously mitigate risks and maintain / enhance business value.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to influence decision-making and alignment
- Support and execute strategic programs and initiatives that enhance and strengthen our process foundations, including targeted support for an existing L2 Process, Manage External Affiliate Marketing
- Collaborate with business leaders, Risk Managers, Audit, Legal, Compliance, and intent to connect dots and drive positive outcomes
- Recommend and prioritize work based upon urgency, impact, customer experience, risks and business value
- Develop expertise in both formal and informal existing controls, including FUSE controls. Ensure the operation of all controls is effective and drive improvements to increase that effectiveness
- Recommend and implement new controls where needed
- Provide subject-matter expertise in risk evaluation, process governance, and continuous improvement practices.
- Maintain accurate process documentation reflective of current process scope with updates as needed, identify any gaps in existing process documentation and work with the team to create new documentation where necessary
- Oversight of required process testing calendar, including preparedness activities and assessment support
- Continuously assess our processes, looking for opportunities to streamline and improve processes to make them more efficient and effective
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Certification
- At least 3 years of Project Management or Process Management Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
- Six Sigma, Lean, Internal COF BPM or PMP Certification(s)
- 1+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, or audit
- 4+ years of Project Management or Process Management Experience
- Experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients
- Experience in utilizing AI tools (such as Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT) to create efficiencies in processes

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $108,900 - $124,300 for Principal Process Manager
Richmond, VA: $98,900 - $112,900 for Principal Process Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
