The impact you’ll make
Directs the activities of a staff integrating hardware and/or software framework, systems and/or product design functions or designing underlying architecture for use in one or more product offerings. Evaluates final results of design assuring accomplishment of technical objectives. Prepares and presents reports outlining the outcome of projects and makes recommendations for actions necessary to achieve desired results. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
What you’ll do
- Build, lead, and develop a team of Systems Engineers responsible for system architecture, requirements, integration, interfaces, technical risk management and system-level engineering deliverables of semiconductor wafer-processing equipment with the technical depth and leadership capabilities required to support product development programs
- Manage team performance, workforce planning, resource allocation, hiring, onboarding, talent development and succession planning
- Assign Systems Engineering resources to development programs based on program priorities, complexity, technical risk and available competencies
- Develop engineers' ability to lead complex cross-functional teams and technical discussions, resolve conflicts and make sound system-level decisions
- Ensure that potential system-level design conflicts and cross-functional issues are identified early and resolved to not impact overall product performance and business objectives
- Provide oversight for development programs, ensuring mechanical and electrical hardware and tool software work together to meet system and product specifications
- Ensure that system-level engineering deliverables including technical specifications, FMEAs, reliability block models, risk analyses, verification strategies, interface definitions, and engineering documentation get delivered for the individual programs
- Establish and continuously improve Systems Engineering methods, tools, processes, and best practices across the organization
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and ownership
- Represent Engineering in program reviews, technical reviews, roadmap discussions, management reviews, and act as Engineering escalation point for programs
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor's or Master's degree or PhD in one of the following or a closely related technical discipline, such as Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, including significant experience in complex multidisciplinary product or system development
- Proven leadership experience as a people manager, team lead with ideally 4-6 years of experience leading and developing engineering teams
- Strong understanding of product development processes including requirements development, system architecture, interface management, design reviews, technical risk management, verification, validation, reliability, and product release
- Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and technical issues simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including internal organizations, customers, suppliers, and external partners
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to make decisions in technically complex and ambiguous situations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Strong professional presentation and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical issues and recommendations to both engineering teams and senior management
- High degree of flexibility, accuracy, and ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment with competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in managing engineering teams within semiconductor equipment or another high-tech industry
- Experience in resource planning, organizational development, coaching, mentoring and talent management
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams across several sites
- Strong business awareness, including understanding of the relationship between system architecture, product performance, reliability, cost, schedule, manufacturability, and serviceability
What We're Offering
This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry in occupation group F. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year. Please follow the link below in the "Employment in Austria" section for further information.
