Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced, senior-level HR Business Partner to join our Portugal team. In this role, you will act as a strategic and trusted advisor to senior leaders and line managers across Allianz Services Portugal, driving the full HR agenda while also taking partial ownership of Talent Acquisition for the location. You will bring deep HR expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to operate confidently at senior stakeholder level, working in close partnership with the Global HR Business Partner community and relevant Centers of Expertise. Full professional fluency in both English and Portuguese is essential, as the role requires you to operate seamlessly with local stakeholders, employees, and international leadership.
What you do
- Act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to senior leaders, line managers and business leaders in Allianz Services Portugal on all HR-related topics, processes and tools, proactively identifying interdependencies and risks.
- Lead and shape the local HR agenda in Portugal, translating global and regional HR strategy into locally relevant, pragmatic solutions.
Partner with managers on complex employee relations matters, conducting investigations into employee complaints and concerns as required, and liaising with internal and external legal counsel as needed.
- Take partial ownership of Talent Acquisition for the Portugal location: manage senior and business-critical hiring end-to-end, partner with the central Recruiting Center of Expertise on volume and standard hiring, and act as the escalation point for local recruitment matters.
- Collaborate with Centers of Expertise to drive performance management, talent management and workforce planning cycles for the Portugal entity.
- Support and advise on core HR processes, e.g. rewards, grading, talent reviews, development planning, and the annual compensation and performance review cycle, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely execution.
- Support, advise and facilitate the implementation of HR aspects within change management initiatives and Group-wide projects, including restructurings and organizational design changes.
- Play an active role in designing and implementing regional and global HR projects and initiatives, representing the Portugal perspective.
- Ensure accurate and compliant maintenance of HR documentation and employee data for Portugal, in close collaboration with HR Services and in line with local labor law and GDPR requirements.
- Keep abreast of Portuguese labor law, HR market trends and best practices, and proactively advise the business on implications and required actions.
- Recommend, review and help embed new HR policies and approaches as needed, and advise employees and management on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs and procedures.
- Act as a culture carrier, promoting Allianz Services' values and fostering an engaged, high-performing and inclusive work environmen.
What you bring
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 6-8 years as a senior HR Business Partner, ideally gained in a global, matrixed organization and/or the GBS/shared services industry.
- Proven experience owning or partnering closely on Talent Acquisition, ideally having directly managed recruitment for senior or specialist roles.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to build credibility and influence senior leaders and C-level stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of Portuguese labor law and local HR practices; experience operating within an international, matrixed environment is a strong plus.
- Full professional fluency in both English and Portuguese, written and spoken, is mandatory; any additional language is an advantage.
- Hands-on, pragmatic mindset - comfortable operating strategically while remaining willing to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and perform under pressure.
- High level of confidentiality, integrity and sound judgment in handling sensitive people matters.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team-based, multicultural setting.
- Excellent digital literacy, well-versed in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP, SuccessFactors or similar HRIS/ATS tools desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
