Job Description
At our community, our Life Enrichment Director play a key role in enriching our residents to live an active vibrant life!
Salary Range: $69,000 - $73,000 Yearly
Sunday-Thursday 9am - 5pm
Job Overview:
The Life Enrichment Director will plan, organize, and facilitate all aspects of the social engagement program. Provide life-enriching events for residents and the community; coordinate a successful volunteer program and ensure the interests and the physical, mental, and psychological well-being of each resident is maintained. Ensure the highest degree of care is provided by utilizing knowledge and skills in the development and implementation of a vibrant, individualized and stimulating recreation program.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Leads the Life Enrichment Team in the fulfillment of project assignments within budget, with quality and on schedule
• Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs a diverse schedule of social engagement programs of this community. Programs are developed to enhance the emotional, social, physical, spiritual and intellectual well-being of the residents in the community while considering their assessed needs, interests and capabilities
• Ensures the Lifestyle Profile is completed for each resident with family involvement to assist team members with the development of programs based on their interests
• Responsible for scheduling and coordinating a variety of programs for the entire community and specific areas (memory care, assisted living, independent living) (i.e., educational programs, entertainment programs, special events, games, group programs, spiritual services, volunteer services, etc.)
• Designs a monthly calendar of events and ensures residents, team members and family members receive either a hard copy or digital copy based on their preference
• As part of the Management Team, develops and maintains a good rapport with all departments to ensure that a team effort is achieved in developing a comprehensive plan of care. Coordinates programs with other departments in the community and participates in Resident Council meetings
• Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment
• Seeks partnerships with local organizations to engage in programming at the community and in the surrounding (local) community
• Assists with the development and provision of training and orientation programs for volunteers
• Plans outings and programs using the community vehicle
• Prepares and plans the department's budget for food, equipment, supplies, and labor, and submits to the Executive Director for review, recommendations, and approval; forecasts the needs of the department, participates in and attends all in-service training as scheduled
• Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as community policies and procedures
• Meets with the Life Enrichment Team on a regular basis to develop, conduct and evaluate programs.
• Supervises team members with direct responsibilities for interviewing, selection, training, motivating, performance appraisals, goal setting and developing procedures to ensure achievement of those goals
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum of 1-3 years supervisory experience and/or training in developing and leading social engagement programs for senior living
• High school diploma or higher education preferred
• ADC (Certified Activity Director) or CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) preferred
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Previous experience with dementia population preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Exhibits strong time management and organizational skills
• Professional, independent, and self-directed
• Willing to work flexible hours
• Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) with the ability to learn new applications
