Lead Accountant - Tax

Reporting to the Tax Director, the Lead Tax Accountant will assist the tax team in managing all indirect tax matters for OneMain. This role will support internal business and finance colleagues as well as external service providers to execute upon their responsibilities.

In the Role

- Accumulate, analyze, and process data used to prepare tax returns and workpapers.
- Assist tax team and outside consultants with the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns and property tax renditions by facilitating the data flow of accounting information to outside tax applications. Work with internal teams to improve processes.
- Work with other departments to gather documentation for tax return filings.
- Prepare, organize, and transform data from multiple sources to support tax reporting, analysis, and business intelligence needs.
- Assist in the management of state and local audits for indirect taxes.
- Research the taxability of transactions and determine proper state and local filing jurisdictions.
- Perform monthly indirect tax account reconciliations and post journal entries as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of indirect tax experience in corporate or public accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and dynamic organization as well as able to work independently.
- Ability to multi-task and provide attention to detail.
- Ability to process large volumes of data accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills required.
- Strong drive and initiative along with great organizational skills.
- Strong technical aptitude with experience working with large data sets and preparing data for reporting and analysis.
- Strong computer skills overall, advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, etc.).

Preferred

- CPA preferred.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools preferred

Location: Irving TX. Hybrid schedule 3 days in office (Tues - Thurs)
