Position Summary:
The Research Coordinator & Project Manager provides operational and scientific coordination of grant submissions and grant-funded initiatives within the Department of Occupational Therapy. Serving multiple principal investigators, the primary purpose of this role is to coordinate grant submissions, daily research logistics, oversee regulatory compliance, and supervise project staff to ensure research grants and trials are executed efficiently and ethically. The Research Coordinator & Project Manager will engage with multiple faculty and staff. By bridging administrative oversight with active scientific inquiry, this position directly drives the successful delivery of research outcomes that advance evidence-based rehabilitation practices.

Salary Range:
$55,000 - 59,000
Essential Job Duties:
- Proposal Coordination: Coordinates the preparation and assembly of external grant proposals by assisting with literature reviews, formatting budgets, gathering biosketches, and tracking institutional submission deadlines across multiple PIs.
- Study Coordination: Manages daily data collection logistics, participant recruitment, screening, and scheduling for active human-subject occupational therapy studies.
- Data Management: Oversees data entry, quality assurance, and secure storage within research platforms (such as REDCap or Qualtrics).
- Regulatory Compliance: Drafts, updates, and submits Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, continuing reviews, and amendments for all assigned laboratory projects.
- Research Operations: Coordinates ordering of supplies, manages equipment maintenance, tracks project expenditures, and serves as the primary operational contact across the shared research spaces.
- Team Supervision: Trains, schedules, and monitors the daily tasks of student research assistants.
Decision Making:
- Determines day-to-day priorities, workflows, and resources needed to support grant submissions and multiple research projects, balancing competing project needs, timelines, and available resources.
- Makes decisions regarding participant recruitment and scheduling, data collection activities, project timelines, and operational processes, adjusting plans as needed to address changing study or project requirements.
- Identifies and addresses issues related to data quality, study procedures, participant requirements, and regulatory compliance, determining when additional review, corrective action, or escalation is needed.
- Determines appropriate assignments, training, and work priorities for research staff and student assistants and coordinates the use of supplies, equipment, and project resources to support research objectives.
Supervision:
- Position supervises student research assistants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in, Rehabilitation Science, Psychology, Public Health, Health and Exercise Science, Human Development, or a closely related health/social science discipline.
- At least one year of professional experience working in a research laboratory or clinical research environment.
- Experience with research regulations, such as IRB protocols.
- Strong communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Science, Psychology, Public Health, Human Development, or a closely related health/social science discipline.
- Experience in experience coordinating complex schedules, writing technical summaries, or assisting with academic/grant writing.
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analyses, with ability to perform analyses in SPSS, SAS, and/or R.
- Certifications: Active Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or Project Management Professional (PMP) credential.
