About this role
The Senior Cost/Inventory Accountant is responsible for managing inventory accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, and reporting activities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS). This role partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Finance teams to support inventory controls, cost analysis, month-end close, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
• Review manufacturing variances including material, freight, tariff, and overhead variances.
• Ensure accurate inventory valuation in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
• Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
• Support physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and audit requests.
• Prepare schedules for year-end external audit
• Monitor inventory reserves, obsolete inventory, and valuation adjustments.
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory accuracy and controls.
• Support SAP S4 implementation and process improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including inventory and/or cost accounting.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and inventory accounting principles.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain experience.
• Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls.
Experience Requirement
Minimum 5-7 years of prior accounting experience, including inventory accounting, cost accounting, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close responsibilities.
