Meet the team:

The Dexcom R&D Electronics Team is a group of highly motivated and talented engineers responsible for developing industry-leading continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems that improve the lives of millions of people worldwide. Our team designs high-volume wearable medical devices with a focus on low-power electronics, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication, precision sensing technologies, reliability, and manufacturability.

We support existing commercial products, drive continuous product improvements, and develop next-generation technologies that continue to expand the capabilities of glucose sensing and wearable medical devices. This role is ideal for a highly experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, uncovering system-level behavior through data, and influencing the design of life-changing medical technologies. As a senior technical leader within the Electronics Characterization Team, you will help define characterization strategies, drive engineering decisions, and ensure robust product performance from concept through commercialization.

Where you come in:

●        You will provide technical leadership across multiple product development programs, influencing engineering decisions and helping ensure robust product performance throughout the product lifecycle.

●        You will define and execute characterization strategies, design verification activities, and test methodologies that establish product performance, reliability, and design margins across complex wearable medical device systems.

●        You will develop comprehensive test plans, characterization frameworks, and experimental protocols to evaluate analog, digital, wireless, sensing, and power management subsystems.

●        You will lead complex root cause investigations and failure analysis efforts spanning product development, manufacturing, reliability testing, and post-market performance.

●        You will collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, systems, quality, reliability, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to drive effective technical solutions.

●        You will analyze large data sets, identify key insights, and provide data-driven recommendations that influence product design and business decisions.

●        You will support sustaining engineering activities for commercial products, including issue investigation, corrective actions, risk assessments, and design improvements.

●        You will participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and technical risk assessments, helping improve reliability, manufacturability, testability, and overall product quality.

●        You will champion engineering best practices, test automation, and continuous improvement initiatives that increase team efficiency and product robustness.

●        You will serve as a technical mentor and subject matter expert, helping develop junior engineers while fostering engineering excellence across the organization.

What makes you successful:

●        You are recognized as a technical leader with extensive experience in electrical system characterization, validation, debug, and root cause analysis.

●        You have demonstrated success developing and executing complex test strategies, design verification plans, and characterization studies for electronic products.

●        You bring strong hands-on laboratory expertise using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, current analyzers, and other advanced electronic test equipment.

●        You have significant experience troubleshooting mixed-signal electronic systems, including analog, digital, power, wireless, and sensing technologies.

●        You are highly proficient in experimental design, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision making.

●        You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and can effectively present technical findings to engineers, cross-functional stakeholders, and senior leadership.

●        You have experience supporting products throughout the full product lifecycle, including new product development, design verification, commercialization, and sustaining engineering.

●        You have demonstrated success leading cross-functional technical initiatives and influencing engineering decisions without direct authority.

●        You have experience mentoring engineers and helping teams improve technical rigor, problem-solving approaches, and engineering best practices.

●        Ideally, you have experience developing FDA-regulated medical devices and working within design control environments.

●        Ideally, you have experience with Design for Reliability (DFR), Design for Test (DFT), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Cost (DFC) methodologies for high-volume products.

●        Ideally, you have experience with wearable electronics, battery-powered devices, wireless communication systems, and high-volume consumer or medical products.

Education and Experience:

●        Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 13+ years related experience or a Master’s degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 5+ years of experience.
