Fueling Your Passion

The Director of Strategy will support the Strategy and Market Intelligence function for Oil Field Services and Equipment (OFSE) globally. As a member of the team, she/he will be a key advisor to the Vice President of Strategy and Market Intelligence while supporting the OFSE Executive Leadership Team.

This role will help shape OFSE strategy by translating market, competitive, portfolio, technology, and financial insights into clear business choices and executable actions. The Director will coordinate key elements of the planning cycle, including framing strategic questions, developing recommendations, aligning stakeholders, and driving the strategy deployment framework that links priorities to execution.

The ideal candidate brings strategic thinking, structured problem-solving, strong executive communication, while building practical solutions within a global technology business.

As a Director of Strategy, OFSE, you will be responsible for:

- Taking ownership of delivering the long-range plan for OFSE while developing competitive and strategic insights to translate those into business actions and results. Outside of the team, this role requires close engagement internally with other functions like Technology, Sales & Commercial, Finance and Business Development (M&A).
- Getting involved in long-term planning, market intelligence and contribute to the overall strategy. The main responsibilities are:
- Delivering core elements of the annual Long-Range Plan, Annual Plan inputs, portfolio and white-space analysis, strategic priorities, and executive planning materials
- Shaping strategy: Frame the strategic choices facing OFSE, identify where leadership decisions are required, evaluate trade-offs, and develop recommendations on where to play, how to win, and how to allocate resources.
- Driving the strategy deployment framework: Develop and manage the governance, cadence, ownership model, and execution tracking that translate OFSE strategy into business actions across functions, regions, and product lines.
- Translating insights into action: Assess market trends, customer opportunities, competitor strategy and performance, technology shifts, and financial implications; convert insights into practical business recommendations and competitive response options.
- Supporting M&A and portfolio choices: Contribute to M&A gameboards, market assessments of potential acquisitions, partnership choices, portfolio realignment, adjacency opportunities, and make-buy-partner decisions.
- Leading or supporting strategic projects: Lead or participate in priority initiatives such as evaluation of new markets / products, portfolio assessment, technology-led growth opportunities, digital and automation opportunities, and integrated solutions strategy.
- Partnering cross-functionally to deploy strategy: Collaborate with colleagues in other functions, regions, and OFSE businesses to align strategic priorities, clarify execution requirements, and support deployment through clear milestones and accountability.
- Developing executive-ready communications: Prepare executive-level material and presentations, that synthesize complex topics into clear, concise, data-backed messages.
- Demonstrating thought leadership externally: Represent or support OFSE in external engagements with investors, industry panels, annual meetings, customer discussions, and other strategic forums, as appropriate.

To be successful in this role you will:

- Have 8+ years of relevant experience in one or more of the following: oil & gas, oilfield services / equipment, industrial technology, strategy consulting, corporate strategy, M&A / business development, or sell-side research.
- Have management consulting experience preferred; candidates with equivalent experience in high-impact corporate strategy, transaction advisory, private equity portfolio operations, or strategic finance will also be considered.
- Have excellent analytics and structured problem-solving capability, including ability to form hypotheses, size opportunities, pressure-test assumptions, and move forward in the absence of complete information.
- Have strong financial and strategic analysis skills, including market sizing, scenario analysis, competitor benchmarking, portfolio assessment, and investment rationale development.
- Have ability to instill a data-driven, process-oriented, results-based methodology throughout the strategy and market intelligence function, including deployment cadence, operating metrics, governance routines, and action tracking.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, simple, crisp, executive-ready messages.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Have strong interpersonal skills to work well with colleagues across businesses and cultures, influence without authority, and establish credibility with senior leaders.
