General Purpose
The Host/Hostess provides friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for our guests, by welcoming and warmly greeting guests on arrival. Manages the efficient and timely seating of our guests to a table that best serves their wishes.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

- Supervises and coordinates activities of dining room staff to ensure that patrons receive prompt and courteous
- Maintains contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and customers' concerns are addressed.
- Opens the front for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when
- Records guest names, the number of people in party, provides estimated waiting time
- Directs guests to coatrooms and waiting areas such as
- Assigns guests to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of
- Provides guests with menus, informs them of their server's name and the specials and
- Assists with preparing and serving food and beverages.

- Actively attends all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for
- Performs cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

• Ability to up-sell and cross-sell to customers to meet the customer's interest and satisfaction.
Education or Formal Training:
• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
Experience:
• A minimum of one (1) year providing customer service in a work or volunteer position is required.
• A minimum of one (1) year of previous restaurant experience preferred.
• Proven track record of remaining calm in stressful situations is required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
• Must have reliable transportation.
Working Environment:
The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The work station may be drafty due to its location by the door. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required. No travel is expected for this position.
Physical Activities:
These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is required to stand for long periods as well as walk, bend and stoop. Must be able to read, write and estimate customer wait times based on the typical dining time frames. Ability to visually inspect, including close and distance vision. The position requires the ability to use arms, hands and manipulate fingers to pick up items, clean, handle money and operate registers. Will need to be able to lift up to 55 pounds on a regular basis. Hearing and verbal ability to communicate with guests and
servers.
