Recycler Utility Attendant 3rd Shift

Key Responsibilities

RECYCLING & WASTE TREATMENT OPERATIONS

- Operate and maintain waste treatment and recycling systems, including coolant recyclers, oil skimmers, UF filtration equipment, evaporators, vacuum trucks, and pump trucks.

- Perform scheduled coolant changes, cleaning solution changes, and recycling of spent coolant from production equipment.

- Monitor system performance and make routine adjustments to maintain proper operating conditions.

MATERIAL HANDLING & WASTE DISPOSAL

- Move and stage waste materials – including small containers and 55-Gallon drums using powered industrial trucks.

- Assist with preparation and loading of waste shipments in accordance with state and federal environmental regulations.

- Support accurate identification of waste streams to ensure proper disposal and minimize environmental impact.

TESTING, DATA RECORDING & COMPLIANCE

- Perform testing using refractometers, pH meters, and related measuring tools.

- Record operational data related to waste processing, coolant condition, equipment status, and regulatory documentation.

- Support continuous improvement of waste reduction and recycling programs.

UTILITY & EQUIPMENT SUPPORT

- Assist Maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repairs as needed.

- Inspect equipment for coolant levels, oil condition, and general wear; replace consumables such as brushes or squeegees on cleaning equipment.

- Operate tuggers, compactors, scrubbers, sweepers, and scarifying machines.

SAFETY, SPILL RESPONSE & FACILITY SUPPORT

- Participate as an active member of the Emergency Response Team, including cleanup of hazardous material spills.

- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas consistent with 5S and safety standards.

- Follow all environmental, health, and safety procedures, including PPE requirements, waste handling, rules, and equipment lockout/tagout where applicable.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED required.

- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English.

- Mechanical aptitude with ability to interpret diagrams and follow technical instructions.

- Working knowledge of basic shop math.

Experience

- 6 – 12 months of experience operating mobile or industrial equipment preferred.

- Valid driver’s license required.

- Ability to use measuring tools such as refractometers, gauges, and pH meters.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with production, maintenance, and environmental teams.

Required Certifications | Training (Training to be provided upon hire, internally or externally)

- Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) Operation

- Hazardous Waste Handling

- Spill Response – Emergency Response

- Intro to ISO Standards

- Safety & environmental compliance training

Working Conditions

- Work is performed in a manufacturing and waste-processing environment with exposure to coolants, oils, chemicals, fumes, noise, and moving machinery.

- May involve working in wet or slippery areas during system cleanouts or spill response.

- Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting to 50 lbs.

- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as directed.

Must be able to work various shifts or overtime as needed to support production
