NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Ebony-Prophet Bullock, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
Supervisor of Special Education – Committee on Special Education

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree, a permanent New York State teaching certificate in Special Education and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA) New York State School District Leader (SDL), New York State School Building Leader (SBL), New York State School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) certificate or new New York State Administrator certification. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of teaching experience. Candidates with prior experience in an urban school district with a large racially and ethnically diverse population are preferred. Knowledge of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, Part 200 Students with Disabilities required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Supervisor of Special Education will report to the Director of Special Education and will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Monitor all requirements and actions related to the Committee on Special Education process for both building and central staff
- Audit compliance with Part 200 Regulations
- Monitor input into Frontline IEP
- Meet with CSE chairs to review caseloads
- Monitor MDR Team
- Monitor referral, classification and suspension rates
- Provide supports to teachers on the CSE process and requirements
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the Division of Special Education’s professional development program
- Complete school visits to monitor the implementation of Part 200 Regulations
- Assist in the Budget process
- Conduct APPRs
- Any tasks deemed necessary and appropriate
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the assessment of training, experience, credentials, evaluation of service, program needs, and personal interview.
SALARY: Per Administrator salary schedule
