A Brief Summary of This Position:

Logistics Operations Specialists are critical to maintaining the highest levels of transportation service to our customers. This is an individual contributor role that manages daily business objectives including intake and execution of transportation orders, assessment of shipping requirements, scheduling, and tracking of shipments. This position interacts directly with our manufacturing site staff, suppliers and customers to assist in preventing, troubleshooting and resolving transportation issues.

Essential Functions:

- This position reports into the Senior Manager Logistics and has no direct or indirect reports
- Execute day-to-day transportation needs, including scheduling, tracking and tracing shipments, and communicating status updates with the broader team
- Provide consistent and exceptional service levels to contracted carriers and internal customers.
- Demonstrate understanding of the technology platforms utilized
- Build strong relationships with customers, carriers and internal partners
- Assemble paperwork and supporting documents such as packing lists, customs documentation for drivers/carriers
- Follow-up with carriers, customers, customer service, shipping, operations, and accounting to get pick-up delivery info, contact info, delivery requirements, product readiness, and other information

Other Important Details about the Role:

- Communicate with the expectation of maintaining solid customer and carrier relationships by handling their questions and concerns with speed and professionalism
- Understand and adhere to our customer’s dynamics, service expectations, goals, and initiatives as they relate to improving value for the customer and Valmont
- Generate and maintain up-to-date and accurate records and shipment documentation
- Partner with carrier coordinator team to generate BOL’s
- Report generation from TMS, and occasional review and audit of reports
- Collaborate with other departments across Valmont to track shipments and resolve any discrepancies
- Additional duties/responsibilities as needed

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

- High School diploma and 4+ years of work/educational experience or Associates Degree
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; clear, effective communication with carriers, vendors, and internal members of the organization is critical
- High attention to detail, ability to thrive under deadlines and work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Candidate must demonstrate integrity and dedication and have a positive work attitude and strong work ethic
- Strong prioritization skills, multi-tasking skills, and works with a sense of urgency

- Proficient in Internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

- Associates degree in business, transportation or logistics, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in logistics functions with an emphasis on customer service
- Driven, enthusiastic, and highly motivated
- Ability to build strong relationships
- Experience working with a Transportation Management System (TMS)
