The Environmental Services (EVS) Manager provides operational leadership for housekeeping and sanitation services across patient care, clinical, and public areas to maintain a clean, safe, and regulatory-compliant healthcare environment. This hands-on leadership role oversees EVS staff, staffing and resources, quality performance, and daily operations while partnering with clinical and support teams to advance infection prevention, patient safety, efficient patient flow, and a positive patient experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Lead daily Environmental Services operations across patient care, clinical, and public areas, ensuring consistent housekeeping, sanitation, room turnover, isolation cleaning, and terminal cleaning services that support patient flow, safety, and infection prevention.

- Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and develop EVS employees and team leads, maintaining appropriate staffing coverage, managing call-outs and workload, reinforcing performance expectations, and actively performing EVS/housekeeping duties alongside staff when operational needs require additional coverage.

- Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare, environmental safety, infection prevention, and accreditation requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS, and OSHA standards; reinforce appropriate cleaning and disinfection practices, PPE use, chemical safety, dwell times, isolation procedures, and injury-prevention practices.

- Monitor and improve departmental quality and performance through routine inspections, cleanliness audits, service metrics, and corrective actions; collaborate with Nursing, Infection Prevention, Facilities, and organizational leadership to address concerns and improve patient and operational outcomes.

- Manage departmental resources and operational performance, including supplies, chemicals, cleaning equipment, inventory, labor productivity, staffing levels, and departmental expenses to maintain efficient operations while meeting established quality and service expectations.

Required Skills and Experience

- High School Diploma or G.E.D.

- Demonstrated ability to lead staff, manage schedules and staffing needs, organize competing operational priorities, and maintain appropriate service coverage.

- Knowledge of housekeeping and sanitation practices, including proper cleaning, disinfection, chemical safety, PPE use, and infection-prevention procedures.

- Ability to communicate effectively with EVS staff, clinical teams, Infection Prevention, Facilities, organizational leadership, patients, and visitors.

- Ability to monitor quality standards, conduct inspections or audits, identify service deficiencies, and implement appropriate corrective action.

Preferred Skills and Experience

- 3-5 years of Housekeeping or Environmental Services leadership experience.

- Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, or pull 25-50 pounds occasionally .

- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and twisting.

- Ability to perform the physical activities necessary to provide hands-on Environmental Services support and coverage when operationally required.

Location, Travel and Shift Requirements

- Location: Onsite at Schuyler Hospital, 220 Steuben Street, Montour Falls,

- Shift: M-F, 8 AM - 4 PM with oversight responsibility for 24/7 staff

- 25% local Travel can be expected in this role to cover other locations and/or leadership meetings etc.

Pay Range Disclosure

Standard Rate of $31.00 - 43.00 per hour plus benefits
